DarkGlare spell/talent

Darkglare is just bizarre. Not to mention you had to have perfect execution in order to make darkglare synergize with death bolt, and you only got to use it every 2-3 minutes… It should be taken out of affliction entirely and put in as demonology spell imo. Summon a random demon that extends dot times? o_0

Affliction class fantasy isn’t about demons. Darkglare in Affliction is just weird. Class fantasy is about about drains and dots "A Master shadow magic who specializes in drains and Damage-over-time spells. Which is why I think a Darkglare is just… weird.

Instead of a demon, it should have been a rad manifested corruption sprite or something like that which applies a drain to all targets that have your DoTs on them. The drain it casts would extends the duration of the DoTs on those targets, and causes its own DoT debuff on those targets ((instead of Darkglare’s lame laser eye beam) and/or steals a % of HP to the caster)) or something like that. THAT would have been prime class fantasy.

Demons are Warlock class fantasy, not Affliction spec fantasy, you are correct, but you can’t be Affliction without also being a Warlock.

As far as Affliction being all about drains and dots, the Darkglare already extends dots and does more damage the more you have out, so that seems fitting with the fantasy to me.

As Zazona posted, affliction is a brand of WARLOCK. Warlock class fantasy as a whole involves playing with ‘forbidden’ magics and drawing power from the Fel. In practice this involves summoning / using demons (i.e. felhunter), using spells that involve shadow, fire, or ‘chaos’ (i.e. fel) damage, using damage over time spells.

You will notice that demonology and destruction both have DoT spells. Demonology SPECIALIZES in demons, just like destruction does with powerful instant damage and use of fel magics, and just like affliction does with DoT and draining. But warlocks as a whole use demons - hell, the opening cinematic for warlock in vanilla was dropping an infernal.
