Darkfallen Allied Race incoming

100 files per page, pages 12 and 13, though the links will be toast the next time they introduce a build anyways

Ah yep, okay, that makes sense. I guess the next thing to consider would be the number of combat sounds currently playable characters have, then compare it to the amount there.

Also it sounds like there’s aggro for the guys too there. …We don’t think about this much, but imagining them gathering those sounds in the studio is amusing, I will admit. A voice actor just sitting there going “AAAAAAGH” hahaha.

no these files are PTR 9.2.5 specifically

which makes me disinclined to believe they are for the Blood Knight heritage armor given that Blizzard typically reuses audio for throwaway NPCs

Makes sense.

i wouldnt call an expansion of the blood elf heritage quest line throwaway

An NPC would indeed be throwaway given it’s just used to be butchered and emphasize the scourge. The model isn’t even updated. It’s not expanding upon the San’layn or vampyr elf lore, it’s used for Blood Elves.

My unmentioned opinion on the quest/rewards aside, the NPC is meant to boost Blood Elves and be thrown away. That’s what people mean, it’s just trash/fodder to push forward a story that isn’t related specifically to them. Given again, it’s to spotlight blood elves, not San’layn. (This isn’t an insult to blood elves, by the way, rather it’s just saying it’s used to expand their story.)

it really isnt that hard to have an actor record some more lines. salandria and the sanlayn are obviously the sources. the music too. all tied to the heritage quest

Yes, re-record the same lines for throwaway NPCs and pay voice actors $$$$ when you don’t need to. Why hasn’t Blizzard hired you to be their CEO yet

classes get heritage armor??? i thought they were only doing races.

No, it’s blood knight heritage because it’s the second belf heritage armor, but this time in blood knight theme

does it make sense to have those actors record lines and then use default blood elf/forsaken attacking sound files that sound differently

they might even be in house voices idk who voices them

Well, if they are adding an Allied Race for preorder, it would be available immediately, not in a patch that comes after the Expansion.

my money is on early access to dracthyr/evoker

this expansion is coming out next year and that would help with the content drought

Fixed that for you

They wouldn’t go through all of that effort for a short questline that’s allegedly an ‘extension of blood elves’ which really gives one class representation with a pretty boring armor set and absolutely no customization to come with it. Oh, and an ugly green chicken that isn’t even updated to HD (meanwhile the DID mount is an HD model), there’s that too.

Seems like far too much effort for one short quest and very little actual reward.

there’s already san’layn attack/aggro/etc lines in live is what I’m saying.

Except you know, Ren’dorei, Nightborne, Highmountain Tauren, etc, which all came in 7.3.5, which came AFTER Legion much like 9.2.5 is coming AFTER Shadowlands.

They weren’t part of any preorder… A preorder bonus would be available as soon as you preorder.

i listened to the files you posted in the OP. it sounds like the same guy voicing the sanlayn. ditto for salandria…they just had them record a few grunts too…

Weird that they’d do all that for a fodder character, but yeah, it does match up. Seems like a bunch of wasted effort, but eh, who knows what goes on in their minds.

Edit: But wait, that doesn’t explain some of the aggro noises, particularly the lady ones where the hmm is a bit more haunting. In the very least, I speculate there will be more San’layn NPCs in Northrend using the same noises, perhaps.
