Dark Soul: Instability

I’ve been rocking channel demonfire and want to swap talents, just curious do you guys mainly macro this to chaos bolt or something else?

If you’re an Orc, macro DS:I and Blood Fury together. Otherwise leave it as an independent CD.

Definitely don’t macro it into Chaos Bolt or something, as that sounds like an awful idea.

I alternate it with ruby in M+

Why not macro Ruby with Infernal? Not a suggestion, just an honest question. My thinking is because Ruby kicks in a few seconds later. In the few seconds for ruby to come back I can prep my havoc, max my shards & then press DSI.

Because Wilfreds gives variable cooldown reduction to Infernal, they won’t always be up at the same time. Ruby’s soul fragment travel time also has some variance depending on how far away from the target you are.

When you look at durations, you’ll find it’s better to get the Infernal out first before DSI and Ruby. Even more so with an RoC build, such as in M+.

I just don’t enjoy DSI without infernal. So even if I have to wait a few seconds, I would use ruby & DSI whenever the infernal is up. So lines up. But won’t macro it as you suggested.

Would solve a lot of problems though if you say it’s worth using DSI & ruby without the infernal. Can space them out on packs & clump them together on bosses.

If you’re using Wilfreds, I probably would NOT use DSI and Ruby without Infernal. If you’re doing Cinders, there are definitely scenarios where it’s worth de-syncing those CDs apart from the Infernal to get damage out.

Yeah, Wilfreds will be getting Infernal down to around a 2minute cooldown nearly every time, unless you were really just not able to cast for an exceptionally long time which really would should only happen in PvP, otherwise you’d need to work on your positioning.

For that reason, definitely just macro everything to Infernal. Infernal lasts longer than either of the buffs so even though ruby has a delay, you will always get full Ruby value on Infernal every cast of it. Your Infernal will actually be doing insane damage and at least during it’s uptime, its Immolation will probs be your #1 damage ability so very much safe your stuff.

If no Wilfreds, you will lose more dps than gain over a long fight by saving them. 1 Minute of no value from the trinkets is kind of huge, just for the small value during Infernal.

ideally you pop your ruby early, then move with the rest of the flow, by the time you reach Darksoul, ruby should be close, its good to max these 2 and get more output from your chaos bolt dmg amp.

Also keybindings required for Desto is pretty small, i dont see why you need to combine 2 things into one, when controlling the ruby yields more result.

Fair enough… will definitely try it. Already have it on a separate keybind too but in burst windows it just made sense to me. Infernal+Ruby, Cata, Soul Rot, Pot, Havoc, Conflag, DSI… by the time it’s time for DSI the Ruby is pretty much always back.
But hey… when better players tell me to try something, I’ll definitely try it.
