If you know class abilities, and you are skilled enough Dark Simulacrum can be a game changing and AMAZING ability.
Most people would rather take it over a passive like Heartstop or Necrotic, sure, sure, and yes sometimes when you use it you get something useless like Holy Shock or something.
BUT, if you PREDICT what they do you can have some GAME CHANGING stuff happen. I have:
Stolen Divine Shield and Blessing of Protection by predicting when a paladin was low
Stolen Ashen Hallow based on the cast time
Stole a Mage’s Ice Block to heal myself back to full
Stolen MANY Healing Surges, Flash of Light etc to heal me
Stolen many Blessing of Freedom to basically make myself unpeelable
Stolen many a surprising amount of Hammer of Justice stuns from paladins
AND ESPECIALLY I have stolen stuff like Cyclone and Polymorph from mages, then targeted the healer and used it on THEM. And WON games like this
I don’t know why people think this is so bad, if you predict casts you can get some AMAZING stuff especially important cooldowns. It is seen as a “lol you’re throwing” talent yet it is one of the highest skill/highest reward abilities out there and since I’ve started using it makes Death Knight SO interesting
Although my favorite steal is when I stole a Shadow Word Death and procceded to one shot the priest I stole it from lol
I mean Dark Simulacrum is good on paper. But keep in mind that you’re willing to give up one of the PvP Talents for it.
Dome.
Buttons or Chill Streak for Unholy and Frost Respectively
Necrotic Strike (Soon to be Necrotic Wound, my case this’ll be Death’s Echo) or Bitter Chill (it’s so debilitating)
I felt like there are better options than Dark Simulacrum and yield more consistent results. ngl, Dark Simulacrum does sound fun as heck though.
It’s simple. Just adjust to what you need most. No mana spenderins? Okay swap out Dark Sim.
90% of the time take Dome, though.
And honestly Im done with Chill Streak, it’s so mediocre and it’s better to take something else. Although I do take it for the extra damage and slow if there’s a mage or something, I usually take delrium. But Dark Sim is VERY useful especially when going against paladins and mages
this is the issue with it, Dark Sim is an amazing talent and one that can really show skill play, but its buried beneath a bunch of must have pvp talents.
it needs to be baseline. it can keep its only works on players component, but this is a spell nearly every pvp dk loves and never gets to play with.
Why does the 1500 andy with a under 45% win rate insist on making posts talking about DK related things as if he’s the first one to discover them?
WHY ON EARTH would you take Dark Sim going into 9.1 over Chill Streak, Bitter Chill, Delirium, Dome of Ancients, Spellwarden? or even Deaths Echo?
This dude takes the least meta things, hype them up, then cries over on the arena forums that DK’s suck. Transfusion ring a bell? This guy is still running Aphyxiate…lmfao.
If you really get THIS mad over someone you don’t even know taking a pvp talent in a video game then maybe you should set the keyboard down and take a break from a video game forum
the only reason DarkSim is a pvp talent is because its a pvp spell. not for any balance reasons. that idea of segregating all pvp abilities behind only 3 options was a mistake, even the devs knew this when they gave us conflict and strife in BfA. either we need more talent options or some pvp talents need to be baseline. the worst possible outcome though is that the devs think we dont like Darksim because we never take it and then remove it from the game.
you should not be taking dark sim because we have more more-optimal talents.
and that is my point, every pvp DK who has used dark sim successfully knows how good it is, but its never good enough to fit into any meta build. it should be baseline because of that. we dont take it because its bad, no instead we dont take it because we can’t. thats the reason it should be baseline.
