Dark Ranger as a Rogue Spec

I think the dark ranger could fit better as a rogue specialization. Remove the outlaw spec and replace with Scout. The Scout spec uses bows and crossbows only, guns are loud not very good for sneaking.
Sinister strike becomes sinister shot, eviscerate becomes black arrow, nightmare shot summons a creature that temporarily taught your target, etc.

Added Edit: Alternatively we can make the subtlety spec the range weapon spec, it already fits the shadow theme

These are just some quick thought on how I would do it.

Side thought; honestly I think the outlaw spec and the survival hunter spec should be removed and use to create an entirely new class. Outlaw; swashbuckler spec & bounty hunter spec.

I like your idea
Most Rangers (looking at you, Hunters!) wear Leather armor, and NOT Mail armor!

As a outlaw rogue who loves the spec I disagree but I would love a 4th spec

No.

A ranged rogue? Sounds like a sniper
oh wait that would be marksmanship.

Dark ranger? Still marksmanship.

But isnt this Survival Hunter right now?

I strongly disagree.

I’m glad OP is not in charge of class development.

“Dark Ranger should be a Rogue spec”
“Dark Ranger should be a Hunter spec”
“Tinker should be a Hunter spec”

I don’t really want Dark Ranger to be a class, but reducing it to a spec for a preexisting class would be a disservice to both.

Yeah that’s gonna be a no from me, dawg. I already played “what have you sacrificed?” when locks handed over some class identity to DHs, I have no desire to see that happen again.

Well we can make subtlety a ranged weapon spec then. It already fills the shadowy theme. Those who like dagger stabbing have Assassination, those who like swashbuckling have Outlaw, and those who want a more dark ranger theme can go Subtlety(Scout). Why does the rogue classed even need two specializations that focus on daggers?

I like it, but it could just be a new 4th spec for rogues. A ranged rogue would be really fun, and since they already have the ability to use shadow magic, it makes sense for Dark Rangers to be rogues.

Hunters would get mad that we are taking their range weapons haha

Side note awesome name btw

We really need more range weapon classes/specs.

Thank you. She is an arcane mage for extra sparkle.

Agreed that subtlety should change, so that each rogue spec would be distinct: assassination for daggers, outlaw for swords, “scout” for ranged.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE.

Pistol shot is awesome, and the whole ‘dark ranger’ thing just comes across as hunters with emo transmogs.

If rogues are gonna get a 4th spec, speaking only for myself of course, I think a gunslinger or highway-man spec would be interesting to explore.

Right? Then all the demon hunter npcs during Legion were all “What have you given?” Speaking of ‘Insult to injury’.

I like where this is going, but they would also need to bring back Throwing Daggers.

Sadly thrown weapons are no more. But I could see an ability that has you visually throw a dagger to silence someone.

No. hunter needs a 4th spec more than rogue after the survival fiasco
dark ranger would even be able to snipe some old survival abilities like black arrow

I really don’t think giving classes additional specializations is a good thing. I even hate the Druids and how it has four specializations. If you want a solar/lunar theme spec give it to the priests and move discipline spec to the paladin(Replacing the current healing spec).
