Not really besides DK, but they wear plate. Necromancers would wear cloth. but guess people could argue that Warlocks are like Necromancers, but not really.
Besides I think Blizzard are already testing the waters with necromancer, just from playing Exiles Reach. Necromancer will get that greenish/blue color that Necromancers were using on the island. itll be cool because itll be the first caster hero class.
Exiles Reach also has Tinkers though.
Everyone on that Island is a representative of an existing class. Except the tinkers there. They donât represent an existing class. But theyâre fully voice acted and going on about how superior technology is.
Then weâre in Agreement. Tinkers are likely because theyâre so easy.
Just copy a Hero from Warcraft 3. Just like the last 3 classes they added.
Bonus points. Tinkers donât step all over an existing class.
Thematically they are similar to warlocks. Summon pets. Lock is demon, Necro would be undead. They are both antihero types. UH DK already summons undead minions. I doubt they will make 2 classes that summon undead armies. So that would mean a change to Unholy.
Also this expansion is our undead expansion. If they were going to introduce a class related to dead/afterlife powers, Shadowlands would have been the place to do it. It wouldnt make a whole lot of sense for the next expac, to have a Necromancer. âHey look what we found in Shadowlands. Necromancers! We are bringing them along to fight (Insert New Expansion Badguys)â
FF14 and FF11 would disagree with you about bard. FF14, bard is dps with support buffing abilities. Of course most dps in that game support the groups with some type of buff. Thereâs only 2 pure âselffishâ dps classes in the whole game that have higher self dps but no support for the group.
Itâs basically a DPS class with some support spells on the side for flavor. However, Bards are Archers in FFXIV so this type of Bard wouldnât work in WoW unless itâs added as a spec to Hunters, or replaced a spec for hunters. And I donât think anyone wants that, especially since Blizzard already did that to Survival by making it a Melee spec. /me throws more salt over this.
IMO, if they canât implement a WoW friendly version of Bards, Outlaw Rogues can just RP as Bards if people really want to.
I think the bigger problem is FF14âs class design/encounter design in general. FF14 still uses support abilities while WoW has left that behind. Their encounter design is all about META and everything is a dps race. Even tank dps matters which I find annoying.
But in WoW we have no support type roles. A bard would have to hold its own in a DPS spec.
If it is the only support role, it would have to buff the other 2 dps in a group to compensate. Also how would that pan out in a raid? Do they buff only group members? Or raidwide? If raidwide, then you only need 1 or 2 of them per raid. If its group wide, then you need 1 per group in a raid. If their buff to the group is just a bit too good, then every 5man would be Tank, Healer, Bard, 2 DPS.
Just seems like it being a support role wouldnt work, unless WoW redesigns several specs as support, and creates a new role.
You should take a look at classic. Shaman and Paladin and warlock even are very much support classes. Vanilla shaman is probably the closest this game has ever come to a bardâŚ
