What would players prefer?
An entire dark Paladin class focused on the void
Or
A green fire-like glyph for void effects on paladin spells.

Class skins, always.
We don’t need 40 new classes to cover every possible aesthetic. I have enough characters.
Im cool with a class skin if it goes all the way and changes names of spells and the class.
But it would be lame if it was clearly still a light class.
And I always thought that Death Knights were the “Dark Paladins” in this universe. Though with necromancy and fel…
I suspect this topic is more to do with the idea of void elves being paladins.
They kinda are for now, more of rivalry due to the scourge vs the silver hand and lack of other dark knight archetypes, but void is the hard polar opposite of light
Neither. Paladins all use the Light. If you want the void or fel, there’s other classes for that :P.
Na, im totally.cool with those eclipse knights. I have to be given that we have LFD locks.
This in would be it’s own thing for races whether it’s a glyph or a class
Gen2 DK’s are the literal Dark Paladins in Lore. But, hells to the yes for class skins to make Void Paladins.
Hell yeah, me too.
Right that’s why I said Dark Paladin, as in a void twist on a typical paladin.
I loath the idea of a void spec for regular pallies
They won’t do Necromancers for being too design-space similar to Death Knights. “Dark Paladin” is too close of a design space to Death Knight and Paladins.
Is it though?
Void and death are two entirely different things.
And we don’t have any melee void classes.
Describe how, at a high conceptual level, it would play that would make it drastically different than a Paladin, Death Knight, or Shadow Priest, or any combination thereof. It just seems like we already have “magic damage plate class”, I don’t see what kind of gameplay design space it could have without being restricted.
Well I can’t say for sure since I’m not a game dev.
I’m mostly thinking about the theme of it.
Light and void are polar opposites. Priests are able to use both, but paladins Hyper focus on only using light.
Soo, how would it look like if a plate class would hyper focus on the void.
Obviously void and light function differently from each other so it wouldn’t just be a color swap from yellow to purple.
Mechanics wise, idk. Someone once.told me a tank spec around the priest Mind Games Gimmick where dmg turns to self heals could be neat.
Maybe a dps spec could have the player turn into a faceless one as it’s main mechanism similar to how demo used to manage meta.
Just some.ideas
Those still fall within the scope of classes we already have. The theme is neat but there’s not enough design space to carve out an entire class without treading into Paladin or Priest territories.
This is why Blizz should have added class skins. They are already adding Hero Talents in TWW, those could have been full on class skins that recolored/visually changed abilities while leaving them mechanically the same.
It would have been alot of work, which is why it probably won’t ever happen, but Blizz could open up near endless character concepts that still work with the classes already available.
They would essentially never have to add another class. Just a new skin.
But non of the current tanks convert dmg taken to self heals.
And the old school demo meta mechanic hasn’t really been adopted by any class to my knowledge
Eh, seems lame to have the big expansion evergreen system just be a cosmetic thing IMO.
Blood Death Knights.
Don’t they just self heal??
I’m talking like basically taking mind games and making it into a full blown tanking gimmick
