Do you want a fairly unique fast travel system that will allow you to go to multiple locations as long as you find the mole machines?
If yes? Go Dark Iron. If no? Go regular dwarf.
Outside of that, there only difference if you’re picking those classes is aesthetics.
Do you like lava? That is the question. Edit: I find DID racials far more interesting, so there’s that.
If you’re going to go Dwarf always go Dark Iron imo
Since you aren’t going for a tank class, go Dark Iron ^^
DID racials are a bit more interesting, but regular dwarves have more customizations.
Can’t go wrong with either choice, imo.

Dark iron could be seen as a Engineer or a Hound Master.
Dark Irons are superior in just about every way, to my mind. Most of my characters are now DI I love them so.
Then again, I have been a huge Chaos Dwarf fan in Warhammer for decades and Dark Irons are about as close as you can get in the Warcraft universe.
Dwarf sims higher and has a better defensive CD, esp if you pick Hunter because they are squishy in PvE.
Dwarf always sims high anyway, just like Tauren. Those crit dmg racials are pretty slept on tbh.
Gnome Hunter because the robot-bunny hunter pet is adorable.
If you crit often or have guaranteed crits, Dwarf will be better. DI usually ends up worse because it’s forced to use its racial on cooldown to compete in terms of damage even if it purges nothing, so it gets nothing but the base primary stat increase without any bonuses. It’s also very difficult/rare for DI to get max benefit from racial (the bonus will double if you purge 3 debuffs).
The dwarf purge component is independent from the DPS component so it ends up better anytime you have a class/spec that can crit often. Even if you don’t crit often, the liberty of having your DPS perk not tied in with the dispel is usually much better.
Dwarves get a good racial that removes effects.
