Dark Iron help please

I did not use the search feature as it keeps freezing my browser. So sorry if the questions asked have been answered before.

I have come up with an idea for a monthly blurb in my servers “redwood times” newspaper but I want to get some facts correct first. Going to be about Acialga and her travels and how the world has changed.

  1. How long has it been since the Dark Irons been out of their area. (like how long was the war of the hammers)

  2. How well receptive are the Alliance races towards Dark Iron?

  3. Is stormwind a new city, I doubt it was built when dark irons were roaming?

  4. ICly my character was an alchemist with a poison specialty, would trying to find a shop to sell my poisons and stuff be farfetched? I mean, would humans/elves/tenticleelves/and the like have a need for the poisons?

  5. Would it be acceptable that a lot of the world is brand new to me, if I was one of the dark irons that never really ventured up to the searing gorge and just stayed in the mountain?

Any help would be appreciated! I want to at least get my dark iron’s character sorted before I write about her travels for the paper.

Any links to rp guides for dark iron would be most appreciated too!

Oh don’t worry all your dark Iron inquiries will be answered in due time. Our local Dark Iron expert Raveintis will be by shortly I suppose. He is the authority on the subject. He also likes to show me up on a few key subjects we disagree with.

No big rush, the deadline for the times is like feb 5-6

Greetings, I am Raveintis Embermane, expert on demon and dark iron lore. I been doing the darker of the dwarven cousins for many years before I finally got me real skin.

The War of Three Hammer happened 262 years ago. Unfortunately wow’s lore doesn’t say how long the war was or whether it was ended or started at that point. The main points of the battle was the Bronzebeards winning the civil war and kicking out both the Wildhammer and Dark Iron clans. All three were rather mad at each other at this point, the Wildhammers lost their original homes around the mountain and the Dark Irons lost precious gem mines.

The Dark Iron and Wildhammers both constructed new cities to live in away from the Bronzebeards and Ironforge. The Wildhammers created Grim Batol and the Dark Irons made a city called Thaurissan city named after their leader. The Dark Irons never let go the grudges they held for losing Ironforge, and decided to attack their dwarven brethren. They assaulted both Grim Batol and Ironforge at the same time because although all the dwarves didn’t like each other if one would fight they all fought. The Dark Irons plan was too bold and they are pushed back, the Wildhammers and Bronzebeards give chase to exterminate the Dark Irons for good. Emperor Thaurissan has little choice he attempts to summon something of great power to save his people from extinction. With his wife recently dying to the Wildhammers, Thaurissan’s heart grew dark and Ragnaros is accidentally pulled free from the Elemental planes!

The Wildhammers and Bronzebeards retreat, Thaurissan is killed and Thaurissan City is destroyed in the flaming explosion of Ragnaros’s rebirth. The Dark Irons are put into servitude under Ragnaros and a new city is created Shadowforge City, presumably the first ruler of this city is Thane Shadowforge a cruel leader who uses both shaman and warlock magic. The Wildhammers find Grim Batol is cursed the Dark Iron Empress before she died used Xal’atath to make the place uninhabitable. The Dark Irons are now under Ragnaros’s control and for the first few years spent their time building a new city, building up their armies again, and digging deep enough to tap lava so more fire elementals can be brought to Azeroth.

This depends on each race! The Bronzebeards would originally hate the Dark Irons, the feeling is mutual. But they can’t kick us out because Moira is a Bronzebeard and the Dark Irons Empress. Dagran when he comes if age is the rightful ruler of both Shadowforge and Ironforge.

The gnomes May be split with how we are. Some like the Dark Irons because we use a lot of machines, the Mole Machine is a straight Dark iron invention. Where as some might remember the Dark Irons sent emissaries to Gnomeregan and the leper gnomes for allies.

The Gilneans, Night elves and Draenei would hardly have much experience with Dark Irons as they really never made their way to Kalimdor until after joining the alliance.

Humans would have only a few things to go on, although Shadowforge is not far from Stormwind it appeared the Dark Irons has no desire to go south and attack the humans. The Dark Irons biggest mistake was while claiming Ironforge for her son, Moira accidentally sealed Anduin within it. This is however the moment the Dark Irons joined the alliance.

Stormwind is 1233 years old, it was founded before the war of three hammers. The humans of Stormwind and the Dwarves of Ironforge were trading before the War of Three Hammers. It is likley the Dark Irons knew that Stormwind was nearby and had no reason to attack them, it was a dwarven civil war not a world war. After Ragnaros’s rebirth the Dark Irons became secretive and seclusive, they likley only protected their lands.

Not at all, the Dark Iron society is a dystopia, there is a lot of mention of Dark Irons and poisons! Infact we have a cultural desire to never take food from outsiders because poisoning’s in Shadowforge are common. The Dark Irons will not hesitate to kill someone to elevate their own social status! However it is still a crime to do such things punishable by death in the Ring if Law, if you get caught! You can make such poisons but I might sell it as innocent pesticides to the other races, while we Dark Irons don’t shy away from the darker things in life the other races tend to… But as a Dark Iron poison seller? Totally viable!

Totally acceptable, our society is secretive and seclusive, it’s easier to focus on ones own social status than explore a world that always seems to be ending! We have had so many doomsday’s in the past 10 years!

Hopefully this helps, if you need any other information about Dark Irons, I am the best!

Like that Dark Irons are better than Wildhammers…

I originally picked dark iron soley due to kul tirans not having warlocks, but really loving it, so now that I am content with not race changing again, I have a lot to learn

Well, look out Redwood Times, I got some basic knowledge of dark irons and going to write my Travels for you (ED’s rp newspaper)

Truly a shame by the way, I am sure many wanted to play as a kultiran witch as a aff warlock. As far as I can tell there no reasonable reason they shouldn’t be warlocks.

Good there is lots of great lore with the Dark Irons, you will enjoy them.

I’ll keep a eye out for it, if you need more info I’m here.

Ah yes so predictable.

Oh look at the time, you are late. 4 hours from my post and you call Dark Irons better. Slow to the party, how they thought your kind would make a fitting allied race over Wildhammers….

laughs in superior Bronzbeard

slips something into a cup A toast to the Bronzebeards!

We Dark Irons come to allies in need unlike you Wildhammers who were content to sit in your lands until the orcs came!

I’m a old man, I gotta take extra care not to leave anything behind on the Deeprun Tram! Respect your elders!

We are not, but we fight often.

There fixed that for ye!

Good on ya mam, just don’t let the Queen see that, we don’t wanna make her look bad.

TFW the best leader the dark irons have ever had is royal Bronzbeard blood. I guess you need our superior leadership skills to be able top do anything ;D

And Thankfully Dagran Jr. is being raised as Bronzbeard child with Bronzebeard values!

*I'm just jesting all in IC fun*

Lol My article didnt turn out as i planned. I wrote something about seeing tirisgarde then was like wait, holdup, let me go to ironforge first and wrote something very small about IF deeprun and stormwind just to start the first article

Dark Irons, always making excuse for themselves. We all know who started the war in the first place. Hint, it was not the Wildhammers.

Not as far as I know. I have a lot of cousins and second cousins. When ye mom is the youngest of 12, and her closest sibling is some 10+ years older it tends to make for a strange family dynamic.

Anyway I have around 30+ cousins and I think a total of 60 something second cousins just on my mother’s side of the family. So while I can confirm… mostly that none of my siblings play wow, can’t be too sure about my “extended” relatives.

It would be cool and quite ironic if the wee Dark Iron cousin of my Wildhammer(s) was related to me IRL, but it’s unlikely.
