Hey everyone,
I noticed that when Dance of Chi-Ji procs as a WW Monk, nothing pop-ups on the screen like when Blackout Kick allows a free blackout kick a purple line pops up on the UI (I forget the name of the passive that allows this). It would be nice to be more aware of when Dance of Chi-Ji procs.

Dance of Chi-ji makes a slicing noise when it procs. I personally prefer it than a visual indication, but i suppose it’s no help to players who don’t listen to the default sound.

My sound is typically turned down quite a bit, I do believe that a visual indicator would be far more helpful or at least an option for it.

Unfortunately there isn’t one other than the glowing SCK on your action bar. Other than that you’d have to use a WeakAura

I’ve been using a weak aura for so long I’d probably have to disable whatever indicator blizzard would give it.
I agree a proc visual like the free BoK would be nice.
If I wanted to make a feature request for Blizzard to add this functionality, where would I do so?
When you find out please do, when I watch my vods one of the most common mistakes i make is not utilizing dance of chiji even when it would be really good for the situation, because I’m not aware that I can for several gcds (or sometimes at all.) I was just thinking about getting WeakAura addon today even though it feels like cheating a bit to have an addon that tells you obscure info.

Not sure how a proc is “obscure info” but okay. Use an addon / weak aura.

Yeah, nothing wrong with requesting a feature like this, but if you think it’ll help you should absolutely just make a simple WA until blizzard implements something. Also, your Spinning Crane Kick button will glow when Dance procs.
and I mean, cheating? Approximately 100% of competitive players use weakauras, it’s hardly cheating when everyone does it.

I know what you mean, many classes have important UI indicators for stuff like this, it would be great for monks imo.
I am already tracking people’s defensives, utility, interrupts, enemy spell qeues, my own defensive rotation, etc. I just gave up and switched to Jade Empowerment for the problem keys. Some dungeons like Mist dance feels fine. Lots of cleave, trash packs into boss type pulls where possible, really big pulls with constant aoe damage, dance feels great. But the problem dungeons like CoT and SV i just really want the (mini) boss(es) to die a lot faster and JE has better single target damage. I made a WA to track zen pulse which made a huge difference. Also blizz should make important info easy to know without addons i think i always start seasons with minimal addons, because I prefer as little screen clutter as possible and then slowly over time acquire more to track this info. This season too with the insane amount of shadowlands type bosses they made with non stop massive damage they just do often with little or not time to react makes me want WAs to track stuff.
I literally never used omni cd outside of pvp until this season. I have to track the tanks defensives and forebearance and who has tempered in battle and on and on? Just feels like blizzard balanced it around addons instead of making it intuitive.
For real! Knowing when dance procs or if RSK was reset or when you have zen pulse and how many stacks of zen pulse you have, and on and on, is like really important information for those key core talents. But you have to get addons to consistently know that information without diverting your attention away what is currently happening to check. Especially with zen in the top right on the buff bar and dance on your action bar (where-ever that may be for you.)
Do MoH player still have to mouse over their chi-harmony buff to see how much they even have? With a quick glance at numbers like 917502 or whatever how do many of them even infer what that means and how to use it? I’ve seen some players use a progress bar (probably WA but not sure) to track its growth.
I really can’t be mad at blizzard designing the game around addons when they’re so incredibly easy to access. Avoiding addons just feels like you’re making it harder for yourself for no reason.
But for what it’s worth, Dance does have an indicator, because it glows your Spinning Crane Kick button. I could make you a simple texture overlay weakaura if you want?

it feels like an unfinished class in beta because of it.
gotta dust out the weak aura skills to finish the class lol.
shame.
add more little paw graphics of different colors for the other procs already.
Personally, I like having the freedom to customize my UI with addons and weakauras to be just the way I like it, and to display the information I want to see. It’s much easier to add something that isn’t displayed by default than it is to remove a default display that I find unnecessary. So, I’d rather that blizzard remains cautious with what they add to the base UI.

I would love to be able to edit the default UI in this manner.
You may be in luck. I believe wowhead had an article within the last months showing some datamined weak auras type resources. Doesn’t mean anything definitive, but it may be happening
I made my own on screen graphic proc WeakAuras for dance of chi-ji, whirling dragon punch, and the crackling jade lighting proc. I do wish blizzard would just add customization options in the game for this.
