The title says it all, when certain teams can sit in stealth and completely avoid combat until Dampening has already kicked in significantly, doesn’t it make sense that if we have to have Dampening in the game, that the de-buff doesn’t start stacking until combat is initiated?

Well double dps is awful already, why not just make sure it can’t exist.
Counter point Dampening shouldn’t exist. It was a temporary mechanic they added till they could find a permanent fix. Hope they remove this terrible idea from the game and actually focus on good PvP design.

The crowd chooses you was the first Temporary mechanic. Dampening was the second temporary mechanic and stated it’s “Temporary” while they find better ways to balance. This is history.
Dampening is an awful mechanic that was never intended to be permanent it’s a problem and needs to be removed. PvP can be a lot better if real solutions are added and formats make adjustments.
There is nothing more permanent than a temporary solution.
It should pause if nobody is in combat.
I don’t like dampening because in shuffle it punishes healers for playing well.
Dampening is just atrocious design and low effort. As long as it’s in the game we can’t take PvP seriously. It’s wild that anyone wants these blanket effects to remain instead of better interactive class PvP design and format changes.
I think in rated 3’s people complained about long games but yet supported using drinks. I’d much rather play a healer and oom in a few minutes than go into a 10+ minute match at high dampening.

Jokes aside damp is really lame and a bandaid fix that makes you weaker the longer the game goes is just really lazy and unnattractive design. In some seasons that match effectively didn’t start until you were 5+ mins in because nothing would happen until damp ramped up
If both members of your 2s team are in stealth and haven’t engaged in combat in 15 seconds you should start taking a stacking debuff that will kill you after 30 seconds. Engage or die.
If you’re queueing double rogue this debuff starts right out of the gates at 100% and you just auto lose because shame on you for queueing double sub.
