2v2 start of game dampening going from 30 percent to 40 percent is awful. dampening is a band aid to begin with. now none of the games i play go long enough to where mana management is even something you have to pay any mind to . this is a bad change
I haven’t played it yet but seems like a good change overall.
Are you sure the issue isn’t that it’s just priest + rogue, feral, or bm having a massive advantage in the bracket and the mana win condition isn’t there because of that? That would be my guess, and my suggestion would be to first nerf those specs.
Idk, I think it’s a good change and speeds up games significantly.
I mean yeah it speeds up games.
But that 10% dampening literally broke some matchups. Lock/healer & spri/healer was somewhat playable into feral or war/healer before, now it’s just a straight up massacre, for instance.
Can’t imagine what the SV & WW matchups look like into everything atm with that accelerated gamestate
It egregiously helps specific comps and specs that are already problems while knee capping ones that weren’t.
Does nothing to change warrior / healer, feral / healer, I’d assume a similar trend with bm/healer.
2s is waste of time, but this change sounds good.
2s isn’t supposed to be balanced. A lot of people would rather just let 2s by DPS only because it’s only positive is fast queue times. Having long, drawn out matches because it takes forever to get through the healer teams is bad for both DPS and healer teams. This is a great change.
2s is for capping now, so was a good change IMO.
I think the most concerning outlier would be bm+healer because I think most often I lose to bm on damage/dampening than actual CC/mana.
That being said, I played some 2s yesterday and the day before as off meta specs (dh, frost mage, and ret paladin) and was pretty reliably crushing games that I should never win. This was only like 2k mmr, so nothing high, but I was beating more hunter than I ever had before and felt like I had way more pressure into them than previously.
I just attributed that to the dampening changes, but I don’t play 2s at a high enough level to really tell.
hey man listen war druid 2s in TBC was literal brainrot so we welcome dampening. if you had feedback, submit it
I haven’t played any 2s recently but agree with this in general. I wouldn’t even touch classic iterations of arena with a 10 ft pole simply due to the games going on for so long.
3-5 min games is the sweet spot imo for wow arena matches. I know many or perhaps most 3s enjoyers like for games to go on a bit longer than this, but for me that is just too long for deathmatch style pvp.
Just personal preference, but I think if matches are long enough to the point where people can use 2 min cds for a third time, then that is too long, and that is exactly what was going on in the 2v2 bracket.
it’s the best change to the bracket in years
before the dampening change, the first 2 minutes of every match were a complete snooze and most mistakes didn’t really amount to anything
there’s more emphasis on the pooling of late game resources, rather it’s cooldowns instead of mana
mana’s a pretty crude way to try and win games when a long match is considered 5 minutes
na its better, 2s was a snoozefest before this change
Id rather they reduce all mana regen to zero, no drinking and cut mana pools if needed instead of dampening
Honestly just made it even easier for BM/War/Feral to do nothing and win in 2s but overall it’s whatever, win fast lose fast.
