I try to tell people that it’s faster now (than it was post7.3.5) but it doesn’t matter how fast or how easy something is if they don’t enjoy doing it. Getting a flu shot is fast too but ask any toddler how fun it is
It’s almost like simple and short != fun.
Give me long, arduous leveling, expensive professions with rare recipes, dungeons that hurt something fierce, quest chains that traverse continents and levels and no heirlooms, any day of the week.
Oh, Classic is coming soon, /trundles that way.
Old content is boring. It’s not challenging. It’s terribly monotonous. I’ve done this all before.
I’d prefer to level from 1-120 asap. 45+ hours seems like hell to me.
No doubt bout dat.
Some other leading MMO’s have event’s popping up in all their zones and you can level to max level in anyone of them. It would be nice if WoW did something like that.
Took you 2 days? Did you sleep or just stay up for 24 hours? Teach me how!!
ROFL. this is the argument ppl whined and cried about to blizz so they ADDED zone scaling. for what ? 12 years no one cried about out-leveling a zone, then suddenly we have scaling.
Blizz just wanted to pad their /timeplayed metric. Just like with most changes nowadays. And they wonder why people have left
You forgot boring as hell. So F-N boring.
You think that is fast? I did 90-101 in an hour and 39 minutes and 12 seconds.
Granted, I have a ton of experience (pun intended)
But seriously, glad you enjoy leveling
Agreed but there will always be people who want it even easier/faster. Leveling is a total joke now.
My Zan Paladin is 106, my new mage is approaching 60 and I started playing him yesterday. Have a Zan Shaman I played for about 2 days before leaving at 58. Leveling is insanely fast, and I’m doing 98% of it through dungeons.
I saw a KT hunter riding around on one the NE given cat mounts the other day. I think…I saw more of the KT than the cat.
I wanted to call the SPCA. that much weight on a poor cat…I’d call it animal cruelty.
If I see KT hunters spamming Hati I may have to go pure horde. then the alliance would deserve to die. I cannot abide by hati being mistreated like that. Alliance would have to burn till nothing but ash and cinder remain.
a lot of factors can carry into time played.
being afk, sidetrack for profession and various other things.
Yeah. I never minded what we had prior to 7.3.5
I think one thing that could solve some of the boredom and unrewarding feeling to players but especially for veterans that have leveled many alts in the past.
Here are some examples.
Why not say reward a player with a heirloom shirt that increases XP gained by let’s say 75%. This shirt is initially rewarded by completing an entire zone sotry line such as Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor. Take it a step further and increase the XP rate by +25% for every additional zone you complete such as Outland, Pandaria etc.
Now I know by the time you upgrade your shirt fully it will reward 200% or so of extra XP. Plus what you get on top of heirlooms total of around 50% or so.
This would motivate players who are dedicated, determined and want to achieve this goal be rewarded for it - at the same time having more people in the world working on this goal is a plus!
When someone sees a person and goes “Wow he/she has that shirt, I want that too!” and they go out there get their hands dirty and work to get it. It will be a very long adventure and perhaps not everyone will do it but that reward of being able to level alts quickly for either experimenting with classes or simply playing with some friends on a different server will make that boring leveling process so much more fun and faster because you worked for it.
Of course this shirt should be limited to only the previous expansions and not the current.
My idea probably has flaws as I am sure many of you will point out. That’s why I am not a designer or have the creativity but at least it’s cool to talk about right? Some of you may ask well 3 months later everyone will have the shirt then what? Well to those questions I say: Well everyone eventually got their warlock mount by doing the long quest line, finding friends going into Dire Maul and it was tough. Make this shirt be a tough item to obtain? Perhaps at some point you are forced to do an objective that you only get credit for being on your server and need to find friends to complete it?
Again my suggestion is not perfect and has flaws I’m sure. However it would be cool to talk about it and hear your thoughts.
2 days played, or 48 hours. Not all in one go I did that over 5 days, though the bulk of it was done on a Saturday and Sunday.
^ This post deserves 1000 “likes”
People have no idea, pre-7.3.5 leveling was much smoother and faster than… this
Leveling got significantly slower with patch 7.3.5, yet another “change” that was not asked for/requested by anyone or any player. Most players were fine with leveling just the way it was pre-7.3.5 just like most players were fine with having an abundance of portals to choose from. Just like the portals thing, the 7.3.5 leveling changes were uncalled for.
I leveled up my Zandalari during the Colorado blizzard last week (had nothing else to do cuz everything was closed lol), and I clocked in at around ~50 hours /played from level 20 to level 120
45-50 hours is a long time for something that’s supposed to be entertainment, leveling nowadays is almost like working for a full week with no pay (assuming a 40 hour work week)
If you play 1 hour a day, yeah. Leveling is back to being a joke and you can spam dungeons again. But we’re in an instant gratification era I see.
I leveled to cap in vanilla in less than 2 weeks while going to college and working part time. And in the beta I leveled a forsaken warlock through the starter zones up to Hillsbrad so I literally had no idea about the rest of the world. Now I practically have all the quests memorized and that’s in addition to the quests pointing us where to go. But in vanilla that was also where the rest of the playerbase was. That’s not the case nowadays. The world is practically empty, I’d put money that aside from dungeon runs I had seen maybe a dozen people total while leveling each toon through 100 levels last expansion. So yes, 45 hours to get to where the bulk of the population is… that’s the joke. Side note, I liked the fallacious appeal using the buzzwords “instant gratification”.
Cool story. I lol’d
