Hi group, I’ve been running dungeons over the last couple of months being an affliction warlock. I thought the dots were supposed to be put on every bad guy in a mob before going back to the skull marked target. I was just told to only focus on him until he dies and then move on to the next target and dotting everything in the mob would cause too much aggro making it harder for the tank and making the healer having to watch me instead of everybody in the group. I did try this yesterday and my dps plummeted so I asked the tank (buddy of mine) what the heck happened and he said that I wasn’t using everything iny toolbox. Any Locks out there that has a good rotation and what tools do you have to use in your toolbox that isn’t a simple rotation? I bring out my imp for the group buff but I’ve never tried to sacrifice it so I was making a mistake there. Is the advice not to dot everything and just take down the skull marked first before doting the next one in line first?
Change your play style to accommodate the circumstances. It’s really that simple. Don’t get locked into a singular mindset that you have to play one specific way.
Multidotting is good, but you also have to know when it’s best to do so, vs nuking a target. And of course you have to play to the limitations or ability of your tank. Also, the more dps you get in a group the worst multi dotting becomes because things die too fast.
I have noticed some of the curses don’t get up to full damage before exploding to damage to others but just shadow bolting dosen’t do any burst damage either. I usually stay number 3 on the damage meter with a rare number 2. I read Locks are supposed to be top dps in tbc and unfortunately I haven’t encountered it in any classic version. I’m wondering if it’s because I’m afllic. or if I just suck. I sure do miss chaos bolt.
Affliction is kinda trash on trash, unless you use Seed of Corruption.
If bosses live long enough, your DoTs will do their job, and it’ll show.
