Where is the data in this new damage meter? I mean it shows NOTHING not how many hits, how many casts NOTHING! I don’t know about you, but I track my progress through those numbers, but this thing is I dunno… Worthless can we get Details fixed?
Details will be out soon but addons can only show what the base UI shows. Don’t expect much.
Yes the damage meter is lacking a ton of important information that made the meters useful in the first place. I can’t even see how much I healed people individually.
the built in damage meter is pure trash, and blizzard should be ashamed of it.
details is now nothing more than a reskin of the base meter. it doens’t offer any new functionality. you can thank blizzard for that.
Generally speaking i have been pretty supportive of Blizzards move to limit combat assist type addons (WA/DBM etc), but how on earth does it make sense to take away our chat and UI addons, and why is a crappy damage meter any better than the good one it replaced? it’s just so bizzare lol
i used to use a dps meter mostly just to know who to brez in pugs, but this blizz one is completely unreliable, along with not being able to see my spell usage to compare with someone else and see if i’m favoring the wrong spell too much, if they outdps me a lot
Because they don’t actually want to just limit only combat addons, they lied to you.
Not me specifically, they lied to us all, or perhaps misled us if we want to be really generous about things lol
Actually, my dad works at Blizzard. He said “we’re lying for Virus specifically” /s
I knew it!! I always got a vibe that Ion hated me specifically ![]()
Base Details works NOW, but if you have anything additional attached to it, you should disable those.
WAY better than the Blizzard version.
The blizzard meter is pretty terrible. Every aspect of the UI they added to replace add ons is inferior in every way
The Devs are incapable of building a damage meter than can replace what we had with addons. This has been proven over 21 years.
I’ll have to reinstall details to check it out but at the very least maybe it’s more size adjustable than the UI version lol.
I don’t need the damage meter taking up a block and a half when half a block will do lol
yes, details reskins the damage meter so it at least looks decent. Definately worth a try if you don’t like the look of blizz’s meters.
cool…i’ll do that right now.
Im ok with the basic info of the UI version, but lord…does it have to be sooooooo wide? lol
Details was shrinkable to half that or less for what I needed…
Considering the fact that Blizzard stated multiple times throughout the past year, that their goal with the addon changes is NOT to outright replace most of these addons, but to provide a built in means of getting the basic utility that they offer… The built in Damage Meter accomplishes it’s job perfectly. It’s not meant to be a full feature damage meter, it’s meant to offer a barebones damage meter without requiring an addon. They expressed multiple times that addons will still be able to expand on how the information is presented, the only change is that addons won’t be able to present information that is not available in some way through the base UI…
All of you bashing on the built in Damage meter are just ignorant to the fact that IT’S NOT INTENDED TO BE AS FEATURE RICH AS YOU ARE EXPECTING IT TO BE! You’re expecting a sports car, but you were promised a bicycle.
Except it doesn’t even do the most basic required things we need it to do. Its as if they went and found the least useful data that recount gave and then made it the only thing theirs gives.
We ddidn’t even get a Bicycle, we got a frame.
What are you expecting it to do that it doesn’t do? Because I can promise you, it does everything that was needed for it to fulfil the role of a barebones baseline damage meter. Infact, it actually does more than the minimum requirement for that.
It tracks Damage, DPS, Damage Taken, Avoidable Damage Taken, Healing, HPS, Interrupts, & Dispels. You can even get a more detailed breakdown of how much each ability contributed to those values by clicking on a player entry in the meter.
If you are wanting more than that, then you will have to use an addon. And that is the intent. They are not trying to replace addons, they are trying to replace the need for them to provide simple functions. Addons are still allowed to expand on those simple functions.
No, they promised a bicycle and they delivered a 3-speed bicycle… they only promised a simple bicycle with no bells and whistles.
Tell me how many times I cast a spell and how much damage it did? (There are many spells this cannot be done for)
Tell me how many times that spell crit?
Tell me how much damage I or someone else did to a specific target?
Tell me who interrupted a certain cast?
Tell me what casts a person has interrupted?
EXTREMELY basic things.
