Yeah, Khadgar had one heck of a run. He outlived just about every major lore character who has died since WoW began. Women had nothing to do with it.
They do. But they aren’t what destroys Dalaran. They are basically just the distraction.
Ignoring the absolute power she has.
Spoilers
She was undercover as one of the council for years. Dalaran only ever stood because its wards , protections and other defenses did. She sabotaged those. Dallaran was never unbeatable , just no one manage to sabotage to the extent she did. You see it come close to falling in the Mage manga’s for the exact same reason. Insiders with access.
Not saying women did it, it’s a pattern to hype up a new woman by making her put down a male in the cast. Don’t be willfully ignorant of that. Alleria hasn’t been on the receiving end of that type of crap yet. Nor Moira. :^)
They’ve been teasing for years that Alleria will be and even the cinematics set things up to where Xal is her adversary. Xal isn’t Khadgar’s. I think it’s one of those situations where Khadgar had a plan and that’s why he teleported Alleria away.
35 anima.
Honestly, I’m very satisfied with how they’re treating Anduin. Shadowlands sucked, and I wish it didn’t happen, but it did. Everything that transpired has turned Anduin from a hope-filled adolescent to a very complex dude who is struggling with the weight of his actions and the universe he’s living in. He’s the most believable character they’ve ever written.
- Thrall? I’ve been over Thrall since Cataclysm.
- Khadgar has me very interested right now. I’m dying to know more.
- Alleria is currently more annoying than anything, but I’m waiting to see if she grows at all. I’m hopeful.
- Jaina? If she wasn’t around it wouldn’t change anything, as much as I love Laura Bailey. Right now she’s the token mage that gives me portals.
I’m super invested in Xal’atath and have been since Legion. I think she’s awesome. I think the Bronzebeards and their kin are being handled really well, as well.
When I’m playing, I’m invested in the story, but I have expectations of what that story is going to feel like from my past experiences. It’s going to be campy, it’s going to be silly, it’s going to not make sense sometimes, but it’s also going to have its dark and serious moments. Sometimes it’s even emotionally-charging out of nowhere. It’s very reminiscent of my best time with TTRPGs.
But I’d never sit down and read this story on paper, it’s not great literature. It is, however, great entertainment, and that’s what I’m here for.
We have a spare in Northrend.
Hoggar’s. All strings lead back to Elwynn Forest.
Dalaran was destroyed in WC3 too. They can rebuild it.
Xal’atah is orders of magnitude more powerful than Artha’s or the Legion, remember you used her a fraction of her power to do it…
It’s also stated she infiltrated Dalaran some time ago, so she also very likely made some key sabotages to make it easier for the city to fall.
Also, no one has taken the equivalent of a black hole powered void bomb to the city before after tanking one of the most powerful being’s on Azeroth… And she did so after she fully drained the city

Not a very glowing review.
Seems like they are making Khadgar look more like a dottering old man in that cutscene, than “one of the most powerful beings” :^)
Khadgar essentially dumped all of his energy amplified via Atiesh to try to stop her, and that takes a massive short term toll… He struggled to port Allieria away as a result . He doesn’t have unlimited power, and with Xal’atah also draining the city he wouldn’t of been able to recovery as quickly
That said, I dont think he’s dead… He intentionally reached into the void portal forming at the start of the bomb
As much as I don’t like some of the story beats, this is not one of them. They are clearly going with void juice>old god juice, it makes sense for what they are going with the story.
I wouldn’t say I’m unhappy with any of them. I don’t know why Thrall’s even here anymore. He rarely adds anything to the story other than “wise old orc”, and even then he’s more of just a passive figure in the background. Same with Jaina.
They’re just heroes of old at this point, and they need to be present to pass the torch.
I’m more than satisfied with the ones that actually do something, however. It’s far too early to give this expansion any legitimate review, but I’m satisfied with it so far. WoW has never disappointed me with an initial quest experience. The honeymoon period with this game has always had a glowing review from me, and that’s the same with this expansion.
Check back with me in about a month if you actually want a legitimate review. I haven’t even finished the questing experience yet, but I am VERY excited to play it again soon.
Circling back to this, because I’m leveling an alt while I wait for my wife to catch up to me. It’s a minor detail I missed before the reveal.
But Archmage Drenden (AKA Xal) is the one who has us “strengthen Dalaran’s defenses” with a wand he provides us before we move Dalaran.
I mean, this was a decent setup for the events that transpired.
OP, I love your -posting style. 100% irony at all times. I love seeing people take it all seriously.
