Have you watched any of those top players? Whenever they aren’t playing with the best players in the world that are using fotm specs, they lose almost all their games.
The ones that are most viable with least amount of skill involved. Take prot pallies for example, where you push literally 3 buttons for 95% of the fight. They previously didn’t even exist in arena, and suddenly you see a ton of them. Ret pallies as well, being able to off-heal way more than they previously were capable of without any drawbacks. Fire mages, boomkins, etc being able to push a few buttons to potentially delete anyone in less than a second.
You can even compare specific specs. Frost vs fire vs arcane for example. There’s clearly a bettter spec for PVP, as you see almost exclusively fire mages. So for the mage class alone, fire is fotm as one example.
Being able to push a few buttons? Literally every class in the game has a similar number of buttons for their rotation/burst?
Is that your argument? Because a mage only has to press Combust > Meteor > Fire blast > Pyroblast > fire blast > pyroblast > Fire blast > pyroblast > pheonix flames > Pyroblast, that means we are a brain dead class?
You’re looking at FOTM the wrong way. The mage class has 3x pure caster dps specs. They all do damage. It’s irrelevant which one is viable during a season because they all perform the same role.
A druid for example, if only resto was viable…then that is FOTM for druids because that means druids only have 1 of the 3 roles available to them that are viable. Druids have Caster dps/Melee dps and healer. Mages only have pure dps.
Priest have Caster dps/Healer - both of which are viable
Shamans have Melee dps/Caster dps/Healer - all 3 of which are viable
Do you understand my point yet?
Your argument about mages only have 1 spec to play when they only perform one role is irrelevant…ofcourse they should have 1 spec that is the strongest. It would be stupid if all 3 mage specs were rank 1 viable because having that diversity would be a waste of PvP dev time.
I remember my first OP Arena season before my class got the nerfbat everyone else knew I was going to get. “Guys Im not OP you just all suck”
After the nerfbat happens the real skill will be showing everyone you still even play at a 1.8k level. Id wager youll drop arena rating To around 1600, which is where youre likely playing at skill wise since its your first Arena season.
Youre probably 1.8k because you have a preprogrammed set of buttons you press on teams, sheep this, db this, combust this and win. But when the target doesnt immediately die you probably dont know how to Press your buttons efficiently to do a second or third go and its a toss up if you can win after that.
I’m a MoP gladiator Moonkin. My highest experience is 2700. I’m literally washed up but that doesn’t mean I don’t know anything. The same people now that are high rated are the same people I use to vs back in MoP.
This is the exact same scenario that we had in MoP too and everyone complained about gimmicky stuff when in reality, the game had incredible comp/spec diversity and was balanced.
Rating bash me all you want - It means you can’t provide a logical rebuttle to my argument.
What you don’t get is: Everytime you nerf one class, it’s like all others get buffed. The meta is shaping over, that’s where the term “fotm” comes from.
Some spec will always be the strongest, the best balance we can get is, when as many specs as possible are fotm. That is what we have right now, thanks to fast pace. The moment they tune down damage, cc and outlasting will become more important and we are back to boring slow pace RMX meta, as they have obviously the most cc.
You want that? A hand full comps dominate the game while the rest is barely high rating viable? I think most of us had enough from BFA and when the game turns into it again, a lot of people will quit for good.
I dont need to rating bash you, you are playing FOTM and are trying to deflect inevitable class nerfs by gaslighting everyone and saying its them, not Mages.
“Argue with me about my rating, also if you arent doing well in Arena it’s because you suck, the game is TOTALLY balanced right now.”
Nobody takes you serious when you gloat about previous expansions ratings of 2700 when hardstuck at 1800 rating while playing an OP class. Trying to defend it, gtfo here.
You cant have Combust, Triunes Ward, Night Fae seed, spammable CC, Spellsteal, etc. there has to be balance, you dont have it. Looking forward to your tears post nerf.
Mega it sounds like you just aren’t very good at the game and are looking at reasons to justify your lack of skill/knowledge of 3v3 arena.
Keep going down that route and I’m sure one day you’ll reach be better at the game /sarcasm
Jellybeans is an amazing hunter, maybe watch him and see how he plays and maybe you might have a more enjoyable time playing arena.
I literally just said I am a washed up 2700 MoP Boomkin glad and this is my first season as a mage. I’m not gloating at all.
I really fail to see how mages are OP atm. They are in a good spot. Much like the other 9 classes listed previously. I think you need to really take a step back and acknowledge that you aren’t as good at the game as you think you are.
I just dont want to poop my pants every time a ret paladin procs wings because he can do my entire healthpool in 2 globals from range.
I want to be able to kill an Arms Warrior in arena.
I want to be able to not have to press three different defensives in half a second when a Rogue/Mage opens on me then die 20 seconds later when they reset.
I dont want Night Fae seed to bring players back to life in Arena.
I want mages to have a weakness, damage, control or survivability in Arena.
I want hybrid healing nerfed so we are no longer seeing multiple 10 to 100% heals, biggest outlier being prot paladins and ret paladins.
I dont want to watch a moonkin get bopped and convoke unhealable damage while I am unable to kick. Hell even a short duration stun on me is enough to get most of a convoke out.
I dont want to spend an entire arena match permanently snared because a warlock cast corruption once.
I dont want to be one second into a DH stun while he casts the hunt (second cast) and hits me for 12k with a 17k dot over 6 seconds.
Etc. there are more, we can have a fast paced fun meta that doesnt require any of the above to exist.
