If it took this long for 3s R1 cutoff to pass 2600 and shuffle only a bit higher-- then imagine what it will be like for season 2.
It is just a waste of time to make it so long for inflation to ramp up in this manner. If you don’t reset MMR then we can hit the ground running in season 2 and actually enjoy the season

2400 should be really elite and second only to rank1, not a newbie game

Gonna be fascinating when people realize it’s the lack of players that’s the issue.
Players quit when they are artificially and/or arbitrarily barred from competing fairly, such as via premades, boosters, traders, throwers, etc. as is now impossible to ignore as BGB has brought a larger pool – and with it, attention.
Or just MMR discrepencies, like Shuffle healers in DF.
Players quit when they choose they don’t enjoy the game.
People were not quitting this season in PVE or PVP because of mmr or key levels, they were quitting because things weren’t fun for them. E.g. bm hunter version of retpocalypse. It doesn’t help that we’re split between 5 different brackets.

That I wholeheartedly agree with, and may I add, 5 different versions of the game (and soon Plunderstorm yet again!)
I mean I simply look at balancing as the nature of problems. People don’t enjoy the meta specs rn being as absurd as they are.
It’s the same thing for M+ as it is for PVP in 11.1. The balancing just looks like someone threw darts at a board and picked whatever it landed on. Both layers of content are gonna suckkkkkkkkkkk

This has been true since the dawn of WoW, but again – I will add… M+ design and balancing (Micro-CC, pseudo-burst and 1000 NPCs) have far worsened the situation, and acutally lead to extreme homogeneity (despite e.g. the intended statement of bringing back talent trees, or Hard-CC nerfs – the very thing that made PvP-unique mechanical skill at all). As if PvP wasn’t looked at as a minor bracket before, we’re now lucky if we get any tuning passes or EVEN class design (TWW first patch) at all. Because, if MDI and R2WF are functional, “there’s no issue”.

I mean M+ issues revolve entirely around tanks being made to be super unfun, and as a byproduct that makes healers unfun. So people will get gatekept by the lack of the roles wanting to participate in an already relatively challenging season because they don’t want to pick those up.
PVP suffers from the lack of balancing, and that balancing makes people quit in droves because the gameplay is already way too fast, and making some specs simply too far beyond the rest makes it super hard to enjoy the gameplay. If you get countered, it’s unplayable for the vast majority of the population, and for the few who are capable of fighting through that disadvantage it’s still extremely hard to catch up. (I could NOT imagine playing boomy into fury/bm/dk/assa/feral if you weren’t insane at the spec in PVP.)
We are simply stuck with the problem of not enough players because they dislike the strongest specs being the strongest. Because of that, MMR “seems” like the issue because you have to play against people who can abuse the spec to its max at lower ratings, which causes people to just want an easy out to get the full rewards out of PVP.

All true. And, I think, could all be better managed with more frequent communication, tuning passes and testing.
I mean we don’t need communication, we just need someone at blizzards totem pole to just roll a dice on what spec gets nerfed every 2 weeks or something.
It’s just a matter of punishing rerollers at this point by just letting every spec have its time to shine every once and a while in PVP. There’ll be some weeks you won’t want to play, and that’s fine, because of certain ones being insane, but overall it’ll be far more fair since blizz clearly doesn’t understand what they want to do with anything.
I was going to ask “why a dice”, but you’re right. It’s how I managed in the Shuffle system in Dragonflight. Some weeks I just sat for inflation
while Rets were oneshotting everybody.
I know I keep pushing this everywhere… but it’s because I haven’t seen one clear answer.
Do you know if there’s regular, artificial inflation being added in daily/weekly? Even in BGB? If, so, how many?

Doesn’t really fix the problems, just a temporary fix for a season where people aren’t really playing anymore due to other games/too many brackets/unfun.
