I am a recently returned player from WoD days and I noticed there are no longer cooking and fishing daily quests in Outlands and in every capital city. I have only found cooking and fishing quests in Stormwind on alliance and Orgrimmar on horde. I did find fishing in Dalaran, but no cooking. I’m confused about what was removed from game and what is now available. Please provide this old noob some knowledge about current availability of daily cooking and fishing quests. Thx
This is the first I am hearing about the removal of fishing and cooking dailies. So if I had to guess, you now need a minimum skill level in the relevant tier to see the dailies (or have low-level quest tracking active) and when the professions were converted, your default skill levels weren’t high enough to trigger the relevant minimums.
Hopefully someone else can chime in with more knowledge on the subject.
Maybe it is minimum skill req now. My pally has 1 outlands fishing, no daily quest available. Went to dark moon faire, got +5 to northrend fishing bring him to 6 skill, and fishing quest was available in Dalaran.
There are still fishing and cooking dailies in SW, IF, and (time-travelled) darnassus, as well as Wrath Dalaran as of a few days ago. I can’t speak to whether there’s a skill requirement to see them.
However, you can only do one of the capital ones per day, so if you did SW, the ones in IF/Darn would not be up for you. Perhaps that’s why you didn’t see them?
I’m now sure this is why I did not see the quest in Silvermoon because I had already completed the quest in Orgrimmar early that day. I don’t understand why Dalaran (WotLK) and Outlands didn’t show for me so I will double check my skill level in those zones to see if that is a factor. Thanks for your replies!
Iirc, Outland cooking quests don’t appear until level 70, but might be misremembering.
For both Shat and WotLK Darlaran dailies, you have to have learned Outland and wotlk cooking/fishing. Wotlk dailies don’t award skill up points and I don’t think the Outland dailies do either.
My druid is level 72 with an outland cooking skill of 60+, but no cooking daily is available. No outlands fishing daily is available either, but druid outland fishing skill is at 1 so jury is out on that as possible reason.
My priest is level 63 with northrend fishing skill of 6, went to stormwind, did fishing and cooking daily. Went to Dalaran (wotlk) and did fishing daily, no cooking daily was visible. Northrend cooking skill at 1. Went to shatrath, outland cooking at 30+, no cooking daily, outland fishing skill at 1, no daily available. Started fishing next to old man barlowe and got outland fishing skill to 25, but fishing daily quest was never available.
I can only think of three things that may be affecting your ability to see fishing and cooking dailies.
-
You can’t do more than one fishing/cooking daily for an old world city each day. That may have been extended to include nor more than one of each for all cities.
-
You have a daily for that city in your quest log all ready. Once accepted, cooking/fishing dailies do not expire.
-
You have a misbehaving addon or other display issue. You would need to do a complete UI reset to troubleshoot this (as opposed to merely disabling Addons). Link to UI reset instructions →

Ok, I figured out some things…
On my level 72 druid, outlands daily cooking and fishing quests were not shown until I turned on trivial quest tracking. This is ironic because the quests are not available at all until toons reach level 70. I consider this a bug.
My level 64 priest, cannot see the quests even with trivial quest tracking enabled. However, the 64 priest can see and complete both the fishing and cooking daily quests in Dalaran (wotlk) once I bought Northrend Cooking and Northrend Fishing training for her. It is crazy that the cooking and fishing daily quests in WotLK content are available before Burning Crusade content.
Thanks for coming back to update us with what you found out.
Does sound like a bug with the outland dailies not being available although the Northrend dailys are.
I don’t think very many people do those dailies know so I wouldn’t expect a fix would be a priority for Blizzard.
On my alts, I no longer do the Outland dailies and only do the Northrend cooking dailies enough to get the currency to buy a recipe for major stat food.
Neither Outland nor Northrend cooking/fishing dailies increase skill level
The Outland cooking and fishing dailies started up at the endgame for Outland. The Northrend ones just start up immediately and not at endgame. Before you could do Outland and Northrend at the same time the Outland dailies and the Northrend cooking daily would start at level 70. You could do Northrend fishing before that though.
