So is there a reason in this day and age to not allow us to do things, mainly quests while we sit in a raid group waiting for it to fill?
The game is full of bots one way or the other, at least I could get stuff done while waiting.

Obviously people would exploit it. That’s why you can’t even if you have no intention of exploiting it.
Make sure to thank “that guy”.
I’d love to fill up the assault bar with 39 other people, it sounds like a party!
Raids are a bit too much on the cheesing scale. Whether you’re leveling or in end game zones you could just join an ever going raid and let a small army decimate everything for you. That’s why most quests aren’t allowed while in one. It removes all effort from doing things.
I feel like WoW would be more pro-social if things actually got easier when you did it with more people. In classic, you could group with 5 folks and take Hogger DOWN! Now, people don’t have any desire to group up for visions because the same monsters get more health when you go in with more people for some reason. And nobody wants to raid with more than 10-15 because it’s harder to raid with 30! What an interesting world this has become.
Those WoD Apexis groups were pretty fun
I guess the social and group aspect of them was too “multiplayer” though.
Well, I didn’t mean do dailies with a raid group as in 10+ people walking together and tackling the dailies.
I meant more in the way of I join a group to do a raid but I can’t do my dailies while waiting for said group to fill, which would save me time. Instead I have to alt tab or just walk to the raid and afk
