Dagger situation - what was the point of nerfing slow MH Mutilate?

Just to add a now-worthless 2.0 speed epic dagger to the coin vendor? (Broken Bottle of Goblino Noir). You completely threw off the balance of daggers with this change. Two 1.4 speed blues do like 300 more DPS than this epic. 50 coins is a lot just to waste it on this. The Lobotomizer is worthless too btw. Felstriker is still BiS, even over the daggers in MC. 1% drop rate locked behind a 10 man dungeon / raid is simply ridiculous. Not to mention only terrible Rogues are putting together UBRS groups and HRing the dagger, but I digress. You somehow made the dagger situation WORSE than classic. The only people not complaining about this are the ones still endlessly grinding UBRS and DMW. I will not be subjecting myself to that slough.

Suggestion:
-Revert the changes to Mut and nerf something else -OR- allow us to use swords with Mut. It NEVER made sense, in any iteration of WoW to use a fast MH and a fast OH as a dagger Rogue.
-Either nerf Felstriker to be worse DPS-wise than MC daggers -OR- up the hell out of the drop rate -OR- make it available for coins
-Buff all other daggers’ DPS and / or provide more off-hand variety at vendors.

ahahah let me use swords with mutilate, why not ask to use plate armor and for mutilate to cost 20 energy as well

Just start adding the prebis items for classes to the real vendor. they can even make them cost 150 real. It takes about 3 days of intense farming to get 150 real and that should be enough for one pre bis piece.

As a rogue main I think the mutilate nerf was much needed. We got the poisoned knife buff + 4 piece tier set that much makes up for the dps loss from the nerf. Fast daggers are generally better for raiding because of how much they proc poisons, not because of the weapon damage. I can assure you though, the reals dagger/lobotomizer are much better in pvp w/ backstab.

objectively buffing the best class for pve and pvp is a bad idea, cry more bro, hopefully they give rogues mail and plate and make mutilate 15 energy and let you use it with all weapons, the class isnt op enough (u are just bad at it)

If they’re the top damage in heat 3, what do you care if they keep being top damage? It’s giving jealousy, sis.

It is almost like that dagger is intended for open world / dungeons where you are running backstab or something…

To be fair, since this version of the game does not have PVE and PVP explicit changes, any changes to PVE or PVP by nature affect the other. You cannot have a conversation about PVE and ignore PVP, and vice versa. That said, I don’t think a valid argument is “Rogues strong, no PVE changes”. But rather, a better argument would be “Mutilate damage being too high would lead to unacceptable kill times and PVP impacts.”

Can you post the exact nerf information? I can’t find anything in the patch notes.

Mutilate does 80% weapon damage per dagger now. Used to be 100% in phase 3. Roughly a 30-40% damage nerf.

Ah gotcha. Sounds like a 40% weapon damage nerf to just mutilate. That also sounds like a speed agnostic change. I was expecting something like a change in the weapon normalization value or something.

The change was great enough that we have to rely on auto-attack to supplement our DPS with 2 fast daggers. That’s just weird.
