Diablo 4 did its showcase of their new class a few hours ago. The Spiritborn! Looks cool. Like a kind of jungle martial artist who invokes the power of four animal guardian spirits. I love it. But boy, the similarities sure jumped at me!
They’ve got a cat friend (jaguar instead of tiger)
They’ve got a strong friend (gorilla instead of ox)
They’ve for a bird friend (eagle instead of crane)
They’ve got a long friend (centipede instead of cloud serpent)
The September Celestials?
This is not a criticism at all by the way. It looks super fun, and d4 is really damn good since the season 4 changes. The parallels just made me chuckle.
Now look up Udyr from League of Legends.
I am sure that was big inspiration for them too. This is what I wish Pack Leader was like, where you’d empower yourself with an Animal aspect.
It’s pretty much D3 monk. Going to play it because it seems like a more active druid, trade in my vine creeper for a centipede, my doggies for kittums, and leave werebear to return to monke.
Don’t matter. I’m still boycotting D4 until they add a Paladin or Crusader. They can add all the new classes they want…but I’m not giving them any more money until they fix their class lineup
I’d be willing to bet the paladin will be next. The feedback has been loud. I don’t think the starting lineup was wrong exactly. The five they went with were good, distinct choices. It just should have been a choice of six.
I am sure this is going to blow your mind, but 4 celestial beasts represent the 4 cardinal directions is older then Blizzard itself. Heck, the first time I learned of the concept was from the anime Fushigi Yugi.
as a side note, this is the first time I realized the August Celestials temples are place in such a way that they represent the four cardinal directions.
