I stupidly destroyed it on accident. Does anyone know if there is a way I can re-obtain it? I checked the item restoration page and it’s listed not on there.
Apparently not according to players who posted after putting in a ticket. However, you can get it as a drop if you run around and kill the map event elites (not guaranteed, just a chance, can confirm I have received twice).
Not sure the catch-up mechanic would apply to OP. They finished the quest for this week, so the system is going to act as if they’re current, because it doesn’t care if the item was destroyed or used – the quest was completed and the reward granted.
Not catchup.
The raw singing citrine dropping from events and/or rares is the catch-up mechanic. If you do the quest every week (i.e. stay current) you won’t get drops from the events or rares. If your “main” does the quest, your alts might get drops but for the same character that does the weekly quest, the catch-up mechanic of drops from the events/rares shouldn’t kick in.
It just dropped from Gravesludge, one of the event rares. I killed around 10 event rares before it dropped. Thanks for the tip, Ruby!
I got it as a drop and also did the upgrade quest. My priest has a 652 ring this week.
Side question, can alts do this without doing the quest?
Well I guess there’s no 649 cap then? Interesting.
maybe only if you don’t use the item if you get it as a drop before completing the quest, I used mine and the quest reward changed to just some of the iron.
Oh that’s interesting. I used the item as soon as I got it and was able to do the upgrade quest after with full reward. It was my first character this week. Then I took my rogue through, did not get a drop but completed the upgrade quest for 649 (which seemed to be a 4 level upgrade?).
The other characters who had acquired the circlet are languishing. I can’t be bothered to fill that activity meter again, I wish I could just do the upgrade quest only, after completing it once (twice actually).
I did this earlier on my main who saw the purple (upside down triangle) quest for the upgrade, but my first alt never got the quest even though she filled the bar. My main got the quest before entering the tempest, my alt got no quest offered.
Nevermind… it’s on Didi the Wench, but it’s only a small yellow exclamation point marker on Didi the Wrench (so I missed it 'til I saw a Wowhead comment). However, she’s only offering iron as I got lucky and have an upgrade item in my bags. I think getting two (and upgrading past 649) was likely a bug that was hotfixed.
