Cypher of the first ones question

How long does it take to completely upgrade the whole cypher system? Considering doing the dailies and stuff a day you’re able to do. How many days will it take? I’m a casual player and was hoping to get decent armor Ilvl from upgrading the system. What ilvl gear do you get when you upgrade the system completely too? Thank you

It took me several months. I didn’t play every day and even then went without playing ZM for a few weeks cause I got numb doing dailies

What level gear were you able to start getting?

It’s 252 for max cypher.

Gotcha thank you very much, what all do you recommend doing each day to get the max resources?

Make sure to do the weekly, Daily I would make sure to get all the WQ and Dailies done and grab every treasure and kill every rare you come across.

Pretty much no life ZM

How long it takes varies a lot by activity, but make sure you unlock Altonian Understanding in the cypher tree and do the Jiro to Hero questline to unlock the vendor Olea Manu. You can buy an item that gives you a 50% buff to cypher acquisition. It is BOA so can be purchased for any alts later.

Not really. Takes about 30-45 minutes a day. Not at all what I would consider no-lifing.

Fair, but I get maybe an hour to play each day if I’m lucky and stuck doing on ZM each day was getting old

Not to mention it will allow you to occasionally get cypher weapons from dailies and WQ, sadly that part is per character so have fun doing it over and over again.

The daily quests are the biggest source of cyphers outside of the weekly and world boss.
Get like 90-100 a day from those.
Definitely get the cypher tool asap. Costs 150 cyphers but will pay for itself quickly.

Yes! I’m glad you mentioned this, as that is definitely an even bigger incentive to have that vendor unlocked.

I still have a couple characters to do this on, and will surely have more! They are racking up the cyphers with nothing to spend it on without the vendor available.

I honestly don’t agree with it being per character, just feels like an artificial way of adding a small amount of content to a place that has very little to begin with. It’s grinds like this Blizz needs to stop relying on.

I think having the cypher weapons locked behind having that vendor unlock is a bigger issue than the questline itself. I don’t mind repeating the quests as much, but I think the weapon unlock could’ve been tied to something else. The other items, like caches and soulshapes and recipes are less urgent and only mainly cosmetic/crafted type items, since the main character can buy the cypher item for all the alts.

Agree there, but since we are stuck with it now, Blizz really needs to rethink the whole do it on every single character idea. Hopefully they don’t repeat this mistake in Dragonflight.

I agree, I’ve been going back and unlocking the research vendor in Korthia on some newer 60 alts that I didn’t play in that patch but who could use a recipe or the anima buff item. Thankfully the characters are a lot stronger and the content is easier, but I’ve done it so many times already.

If you no-life ZM you can do it a couple of days.

Even if you just do the zone casually and only do dailies / world quests / whatever chests and rares you find along the way, you’ll still finish in a couple of weeks.

Took me like 2 weeks
