Cypher Equipment

As we get more cypher research the iLevel of available Cypher Equipment is supposed to go up.

Does our CURRENT cypher equipment also rise, or do we have to farm it all again at the new iLevel?

I have a bunch of lower level gear I’m curious if I should bother hanging on to it, since I won’t use it now.

If I understand it correctly, the effects will get stronger but the actual ilvl will not. I could be wrong though.

The gear does upgrade, but you need to get the gear again. My cypher is 3/6 and it started dropping 239

I think something is ‘broken’ with their system. Below is what the breakdown is listed as:

  • Cypher Equipment starts at Level 1, with Zereth Mortis gear being ilvl233.

  • Cypher Equipment Level 2 starts at 740, and upgrades gear to ilvl 239.

  • Cypher Equipment Level 3 starts at 1480, and upgrades gear to ilvl 242.

  • Cypher Equipment Level 4 starts at 2220, and upgrades gear to ilvl 246.

  • Cypher Equipment Level 5 starts at 2960, and upgrades gear to ilvl 249.

  • Cypher Equipment Level 6 starts at 3700, and upgrades gear to ilvl 252.

Yea, this honestly doesn’t sound any different from the previous generic WQ gear boosts, just a different mechanic is used to drive the iLevel.

But, the secondary affects may happen independently of iLevel. Have to see about that.

if we have to refarm gear then is this “new gear” idea is worse than Korthia. atleast that you gear you got to lvl up what u liked

Posted this elsewhere, but from reading Billzard’s official announcement, it appears you do need to re-farm Cypher gear at each research level:

“You’ll be able to earn Cyphers of the First Ones currency through a variety of activities that you can use to research and unlock additional understandings to enhance your experiences in the zone. The more Cyphers you earn and spend, the higher that level will go. You’ll earn Cypher gear as you progress through the zone campaign and the occasional side quests, but you’ll also be able to collect this gear from the Cypher-Bound Chests across Zereth Mortis. When you get a new piece of Cypher gear, its item level will be determined by your current Cypher Equipment Level.

How do you know what you cypher level is?

I’m getting 236 gear at 1/6 so idk

If you check the console in Firim’s hideout (where you research things), it’ll tell you what your level is and how much more you need to spend to get to the next tier.

I just figured out the reason i don’t enjoy the cipher is that I never played cell phone games. The cipher is just like candy crush time lock stuff ug.

My ilvl is already high but I’m still kinda ‘!?!?!’ when all I’ve gotten is 233 gear despite doing all the things that need to get done to ensure flying is unlocked and that anything else requiring any rep will not need me to do any backtracking.

There is also a macro that lets you check from anywhere

/run C_Garrison.GetCurrentGarrTalentTreeID=(function() return 474 end)
/run OrderHall_LoadUI() OrderHallTalentFrame:SetGarrisonType(111, 474);
/run ToggleOrderHallTalentUI();

You’re existing equipment will NOT go up, but the associated power will.

Looting forgotten treasures (which are pretty common - I think they start appearing after one research gets completed) will give you fairly frequent chances at upgrades. I have started getting 239s from these chests.

im halfway to rank 3 and still getting 233 cypher drops… weird tbh

Same. No changes.

Yeah, refarming it is pretty derpy. Not sure why they tossed the perfectly good Korthia system of gradually upgrading the gear you have, when it would work excellently with the cypher. And heck, it would give us something else to do with Flux, too.

Same. All my gear is 233 despite having upgraded the cypher.

It worked too well. IT let people actually gear in a timely manor, even if it was months upon months.

this system is terrible, you need to keep re-farming this gear and pray it drops over and over as your cipher lvl goes up, Korthia system was much better even if the grind was too long at the start.
