Customize Druid forms

So what if we could customize the forms we already have? Like the boomkin form have the options to change color, glows, horns, beak w/e.

What if we can do that to our Cat and Bear form, even flying/aquatic?

Let’s take the new fel werebear
Add scars? Change tattoos? Color scheme of body and tattoo? change snout, eye color, add some dreadlocks, hair, maine, split color.

Imagine a white bearform, with shining blue tattoos on it, or a black and red hulkbear?

Even with the cat forms, same thing, add different kind of trails, specially on the fire cat, just like Magetower cat, instead of sparkle, what about flames, smoke? leaving fire paws when you run? Or ghostly cat with transparent wind coming from it. Mummy cat with bandages rolling? I don’t know, just throwing out ideas here.

And the classhall mount for druid, there is so many cool colors of it for every race, but no color option (except the new green one, personally not a favorite) But I do like the Worgen color as it’s white, but is not usable as I main horde myself.

Maybe, just maybe, this could be a good outcome, make us customizable in our forms?
I mean, since we spend 99% in forms, and we have so little customization on the class/shapes, compared to other classes that have tons of options of transmog and weapons

Also bring back the 2 legged catform from WoD, like dude… Why even remove it in the first place.

I mean since you already teased with the OG legion MT forms, give us some more stuff to do with the few forms that we already have and can obtain (Yeah, few, as in compared to Armor/weapon that we never get to see in Cat/bearform)

They gave us a LEGO Moonkin form for Balance in DragonFlight.

The FelBear seems the perfect starting point for a LEGO Furbolg for bears. I mean druids are about as “anti-Fel” as it get’s so it would be nice to take that basic form and give it a more druid feel. Just some glyphs to make the highlight color ice blue, fire red, or void violet woudl go a long way.

A LEGO Furbolg form for bear would be a great way feature of going back to the RootLands. Let us collect different claws, different fangs, different ears, hide patterns (tiger, panther, leopard), coloirs, jewelry, piercings, etc…

Would also love to see some other more general tools that could be collected and used to enhance and make person Druids. Maybe Druid focused bracers or shoulder armor that had as a feature (for Druids, Dracthyr, and Worgen) a peak-through effect that appeared on our animal forms. Or perma-enchants that changed the color of the eyes in our animal forms, or gave them generally cat-like pupils, or human-like pupils, or steaming glow.

Fur dye that let us change the main color of highlight color of other animal skins (FelBear, Keen-eyed Cian, etc).

There are over 2,000 sword transmogs in the game. So many helms, shields, and mounts for warriors and mages to make their characters their own. But druids can’t see that, and we don’t want to right mounts. We want to take the form of those mounts. How about we give some love to the changeling class and start letting Druids make their animal form—the form they spend 90% of their time as—well make it their own?

The Haranir can customize all of their forms like moonkin can. It’s not as in depth, but there’s color, tusks, ears and nose. (And gills for things like aquatic form)

100% agree!

Being a druid should be way more personal. I would love to have my Umbraclaw form as white as a Snow Owl with some cool markings on it. Having only 3 colors: Brown, Grey and Midnight Blue is just plain boring and annoying without any consideration of players wanting to be more unqiue. Druids spend 95% of game time in shapeshift forms! I try to make a point in game of never showing my Human form amongst my friends. Kinda like an RP / D&D characteristic choice. I’m either always in my Owlbear form or in flight form.

For my Zandarlari Druid I wished the cat form was instead a raptor. It makes more sense for Zandalari than a random cat lizard thing that no one uses… Let’s us be red, green, blue, white, black and so on. All these colors are already in the game on all raptor npc beasts in Azeroth, Outland and Draenor. Having Raptors stuck on travel form is a huge waste! The travel form for Zandalari Druid should have been the dinosaur that Jani is. Tank form should have been a Direhorn, not a turtle……

All these issues and yet, we can customize our Moonkin form to a certain degree. Color, horns, decoration and effects. So why not all other forms but more customization? It’s literally just a simple texture option mode, no different to selecting skin color on a character base. Why is this seriously not already a thing?

Wow really that’s cool! I haven’t dived much into Haranir. But that’s cool. Why can we have that on all our other forms?

Yes please, let us customize our forms a lot more. I know it’ll be a bit of dev work to invest in it but it would be so worth it.

Giving Bears and Cats barbershop options would be great (and I think it’s coming). But I would also like to see more free-form options for adjusting forms.

Like Hair Dye to change the major or minor color on a form. Maybe some perma-enchants to change a forms eye shape or eye color. Or toys to add a glow or highlight. A finishing reagent to crafted bracers that let them show up on your animal self. And whatever happened to Glyphs? Seems the whole idea of glyphs would be perfect for adjusting hide pattern on a cat or bear.

These low-tech, casual options should be easier to implement than LEGO Bear. But might have a bigger impact on Druids. Let players collect, mix-and-match, and take the lead in making those forms their own.

It should just work like the normal character customization does, or say the drake customization from DF.

So for example you’d have your complete transformations like now, where it’s just a single model and you can’t customize it.

And then you’d have the models that have various levels of customization available, such as the race specific models at a minimum.

This would include things like eye color, jewelry, war paint color and style, armor, fur color, face, ears, tail, mane, teeth, etc.

All of this could just be done in the barbershop, and certain customizations could be unlocked via glyphs/achievements/drops/etc too.

Now will the devs do this? Who knows.

With the examples of the Boomkin LEGO form, the Harinar Druids, Warlock pets… I think they’re going this way. I hope they’re going this way.

And in Midnight, Druids are going back to our RootLands. That’s a pretty on-the-nose place to rediscover old magics and dive deeper in to the Druid experience.

Should implement that into all the existing forms imo, personally the haranir forms looks disgusting, only one that is useable imo, is treeform - rest is.. meh. Not for me at least.

But the idea of them being customizeable, just like boomkin, is good. Just wish they add that onto all existing forms. Make more color options to the form.

Instead of like one mentioned here, the umbraclaw thing, why does it have to come in 3 different forms in the Barbershop, why can’t it be just 1 umbraclaw form, but it can change the color palette of it?
Why do my fel werebear need to stay aside from Grizzlemaw, why can’t they all get merged into one, but have different color options, and customization points? Like add colors, change tattoos, glow, eye color, add necklace, wristband, other accesories, and so on?

Adding customizable features to forms would upset the Legion Andys who logged in to collect their participation forms.

No, it really wouldn’t. Not that it should matter anyway.

That’s the best solution. The Swoll Bear and Sparkly Kitty were the best forms in the game nine years ago and at that time only available to people who hit a particular bar.

Which was ok… until the the opportunity to reach that bar closed and no knew opportunity replaced it. Which is why they’re still the best form in the game. Nine years later.

Still if the game kept creating new and exciting forms, we’d have many forms today that (after nine yeas of innovaiton) would be more desirable that those old forms (that could still be pulled out to show off achievement).

So yea… if you want to not open up those sealed off—still best forms in the game—for players who were never given the chance to “earn” them… then just get started innovating new forms.

Or create a “build-a-bear” system where the players can start innovating for themselves.

Agree, they should do both, imo. Open it back up, and give us a build-a-bear system. Give us more variety, just like they do with weapon/armor transmog. Hell… Even give us what diablo have, to be able to dye our own armor pieces, let us be super customizeable.

Would be good, but I think it’s more important they start building new forms again. Ideally in a sustainable way that prevents future droughts.

A modular structure would allow them to, to allow us, to recycle elements while adding new pieces through raid drops, world discoveries, maybe crafting that would produce greater diversity and opportunity for expression.

If they want us to leave swoll bear and sparkle kitty behind, open a door to a better future where Druids can build their own war face. Like warriors and priests do now with transmog.

Then give it all a new excitement and depth with form embellishments… like crafting finishing agents that let a bracer show up on our animal forms, or perma-illusions that add a glow retained by our animal forms, or glyphs that change the fur pattern on a bear, or hair dye that lets us shift the color of our kitties stripes to fiery red or midnight blue.

When I first learned about the Mage Tower bear form back in the day and didn’t see this as a reward for feral was brutal.

Yea, lots of people learned about the MT in the time between when it closed and now… usually by trying to track down exceptional forms they see on players sharing a raid or dungeon with them.

And it is brutal to find that the best forms in the game are not longer possible to achieve. Haven’t been for a decade. More brutal that in that decade Bliz hasn’t rolled out any better forms.

Hopeing when we go back to the RootLands™ in Midnight, Bliz will finally get some new forms out. After the increbily disapoinging experience of “going back to Legionk” in Remix and finding the damn door to MT forms is locked even when we time travel… they kinda owe Druids some love.

Neat video by MrGM that shows all the customization options for the Haranir Druid. No word yet if other Druids will be getting new forms in Midnight.
