Over the years, I’ve noticed that the starter mounts (horses, wolves, etc) have been mostly ignored. And I believe it’s due to the fact that there are always new and shinier mount to collect. This isn’t a bad thing, but I’d love to see these guys regain some relevance.
I believe the way to do this, is by adding a customizable feature to these mounts, to truly make them “personal.” When it’s time for a newcomer to purchase their new mount, they run to the stables and are given an option to customize their mount. For example, you could be given options of fur color for a horse as well as eye color. We could even go a step further, and have stables be relevant again by making them a starter mount barber shop for future customization. We could even have custom saddles and such.
It is important to note, this would only apply for all starter/race mounts. I don’t imagine this would be possible for every mount in game. Though I’d like to hear peoples’ feedback on the idea. Maybe Blizzard is listening.

Oh that would be pretty cool. I would love more options to be able to have my own stable somewhere like remember garrisons? But maybe we could raise our own faction mount type and do that customization thing. Like Pandaria and the dragons, you get to choose what color you wanted and feed it and stuff as dailies until you could ride it.

I kinda liked ESO’s horse appearance setup.
You feed it to gain stamina, bag space or speed. Each one unlocks a thingy on the mount.
Stamina was head armor.
Speed was straps on the rear quarters.
Bag space was saddlebags of some sort.
Was interesting.

I really like this idea.
Perhaps they could also do a faction mount and a Flying Mount for each race as well in a similar fashion?

I do wish the old old old race mounts would get updated. They look so bad compared to the newer ones

I just use the “summon random favourite mount” button, and mark all mounts as favourite. even the ones i don’t really like (looking at you mechanostriders.)
although, when i get a new mount, i sometimes use that one exclusively for a day or so. especially if its one of the rare drop mounts.
