Customer Service

What customer service? Have you tried to open a ticket lately? You can’t even get to a technician without cutting and pasting files which some of us don’t have the computer savvy to accomplish and without that step you’re not going to get close to a tech to fix an in-game problem. It’s good for them though, WOW gets to save a little cash on shaving their workforce since they don’t have to give a paycheck to a few technicians. With enough hoops for the customer to jump through they can weed out tickets. This leads you to a problem that you can’t get fixed. The attitude of "we’ll only lose a few customers have gotten prevalent in the game but those “few customers” adds up to a whole lot of customers. This is starting to show on WOW’s profit margin and drop of interest by investors in the stock market. Remember if you have a broken character you can’t fix why play? I can imagine the moderators here have no power to fix anything or even would if they could since apathy has set into the mindset of the employees. Nobody is immune from losing their job including moderators here to save the company a few bucks to make up for profit losses. Watch out moderators they can be coming for you and watch out WOW the profit margin will evaporate due to poor customer service.

I’ve reached out for a few things over the past 2 years and found the service I received to be quite good. Issues were resolved and the responses I received seemed knowledgeable and courteous.

I work in tech support. Not for blizzard, but I can tell you that documentation such as screenshots are necessary and almost always requested. Matching the resolution with the data provided by the user is the only way to know if the prescribed resolution was accurate and appropriate.

With the time you spent working yourself into a froth, you could have googled how to create screenshots, attach files to a support ticket, etc.

It’s no more difficult than creating an account to post on the forums. Google is your friend. Might I suggest “free image hosting” as your first search?

Couchy

Of all the things people complain about regarding WoW/Blizz, CS is the one thing I hard disagree on and find to be very, very good. I have had to put in tickets several times the past year or two and have never not been happy. They even gave me a refund even though it was 4 days past the date I was allowed to request one for a race change.

The whole point of the post is the lengths you have to go through to get tech support, it has nothing to do with their performance once you get it. I’ve been playing since day one and have seen alot of changes in the way you could get support. All you needed to do was hit that question mark button, give a description of the problem and then click the "get support " button. You’d get an answer within 24 hours whether they’d just gone ahead and fixed it or got in touch with you to work together to fix a problem. Now you get hit with a myriad of possible categories which may not even pertain to the problem. The WHOLE point is getting real human help is a round about process that is inefficient and designed to weed out requests. This is called customer service which is dying nowadays in every industry including wow. It’s starting to show in the profit margins of wow (google that it’s your friend).

Did you guys see what they did to the help menu website in-game (changed in patch 9.0 I think)? Holy freeholy. They completely redesigned it to be a paradox with no way to actually submit a ticket it’s insane. It’s basically purpose made to send you into an infinite loop with no way out. It’s sad that this is standard practice now for corporations. Purposely make your help system as obtuse as possible to prevent clients from actually contacting you. Disgusting.

What happened gramps? Maybe instead of ranting about the kids and your lawn you share your problem and I bet we could help you figure it out

I totally agree. It’s stupid to share ANY files on your computer with ANYBODY. For those of you out there that assume a site has sufficient security to be able to guard your files is ludicrous. There are hackers that can get through any well intentioned security measures. Anybody is a fool that takes it lightly. So calling somebody “gramps” because they don’t want to jump through the hoops of sharing files should maybe learn a little wisdom that “gramps” already has that you don’t possess.

Sharing a screenshot that’s hosted on a third party site is about as benign as it gets.

Maybe don’t share pictures of your passwords.

Blizzard has no angels on staff. No mind-readers. No super-humans. How can a tech fix a problem ON YOUR COMPUTER without information FROM YOUR COMPUTER? Magic spells? Casting stones?

I’m a software dev. Step 1 in fixing a bug is the DEV making it happen on the DEV’s computer. YOU telling him a problem exists doesn’t help HIM find 1 missing character in a million lines of code. If it happens on YOUR computer but not on HIS computer, the dev can’t even START trying to fix it. There is nothing he can do!

You are expecting miracles from normal humans. Rant all you like – it will change nothing. You won’t be magically transported to a magical universe where everything is perfect.

Maybe you can give enough details that the dev can reproduce the problem. Or maybe not. If EVERYONE was getting this problem, it would already be fixed. So clearly YOU are doing something odd. What is it?

I’ve had most issues resolved in hours or less. The longest was less than 24 hours.

Yeah, GM’s actually responded to me and took care of what I needed.

You must pay for the concierge service upgrade as well.

Wow the universe must have been magical playing wow a few years ago. I’ve been playing the game for 14 years and until a couple years ago sharing of files wasn’t necessary. You would click help, give a detailed explanation of your problem, the character that was having the glitch and create a ticket. “Magically” the tech would pop up on your next log-in and communicate with you on game to repair the problem which was always taken care of. Magic! :scream_cat:

Yeah they fired the soothsayers gramps. Sorry.

Now, with more diverse systems, overhauls and potential user conflicts, it’s easier to diagnose a problem this way that doesn’t require consistent contact so they can churn through issues.

Less humane, less personable, but it’s 2021 Blizzard, it’s not about you anymore.

It’s called customer service young lad.

It sounds like you’re the same person, unfortunately, who claims “Back in my day they had customer service.”

You’re the person who doesn’t tidy up when you leave a restaurant, you yell at the staff behind the counter because you didn’t get your way.

Last time I opened a ticket they took 4 days to respond and never actually resolved the problem.

There is no customer service outside the automated item restore options you have.

But that’s what happens when you outsource your CS off-shore. When was the last time you ever saw or interacted with a GM in-game?

Never, because they don’t exist.

Oh, notice how I didn’t use any derogatory terms for age for you young lad? Is that a 2021 thing too?
