Anyone else having trouble with Curse Forge today. Worked great last night. Today none of the addons are working.
nope. but i am an addon minimalist
you probably have addons that are interfering with each other
it’s like taking medications. individually they are good but taken together, sometimes it’s fatal
Thanks for the help. Everything was working up until today. And it is in curseforge that I see the problem. Everything in curseforge is grey. All toons - all games. Still thanks for taking a second to help out.
I use wowup to manage my addons and in their discord people were saying that CurseForge api (site from where addons data is fetched) was temporary down. It wasn’t working for me yesterday but it is now.
As far as I’m aware, CurseForge is just a place where you can download addons.
Once you’ve downloaded and installed an addon, it no longer depends on CurseForge.
I don’t see how CurseForge could reach into your pc and make an addon stop working…
Well, it looked like this. The on screen listing of quests were all the same color. (Dull gold) None of them would react to the mouse to open close track…etc them. However, you could still see the quests in the game quest listings. This was true for all my toons. Across all games and multiple realms. At Curse, the listing of Addons were all greyed out and it would not work. You could not look at your addons, nor add or delete any. It appeared to be locked up. Then after about an hour, I returned to Curse and found it active again. So returning to WOW I also found everything back to normal.
My theory is based on an error message I noticed when I first logged into a toon. It said that a certain variable had failed to match during initialization and gave a null result. Therefore I believe that when the addon loads it has to be linked to Curse. If the feature stopped working while curse was in a locked up state but resumes normal operation once curse is fixed. Then it looks like there is more than just a downloaded file on my machine that is operating incorrectly, it must still have a connection with curse and critical information passes during initialization. The message at initialization, tells me that my machine needed something from curse, and since curse was not working, it did not get it. While it did not interfere with came play, I have become so dependent on Questie that I had to find the problem. (Thanks for your input.)
Nope.
