Anyone that levels with random dungeons understands the horror of landing in “The Oculus” level range. Arriving into dungeon and watching the party disappear within seconds as they jump ship right away.
We are left with the cursed choice of taking a 30m hit if we leave group as well, or waiting for 3-4 players to join - and hopefully stay - to complete the dungeon.
For some reason, the most despised and hated dungeon of Wrath gets "randomly " selected like its stuck on repeat for about 3 levels straight.
This wouldn’t be so terrible if we didn’t get sucked into the horrible “random” void that places this nasty dungeon at, what seems like, a 85% chance to be selected.
Please remove this dungeon, allow us to leave party without a 40m debuff, or give us the option to remove it from the random list entirely.

Joined it on my first and only wrath random everyone but me and the tank and healer left 3 more came in and left until finally a whole group until the first boss then 1 left then we finished
Its probably faster to just pick the dungeon you want to do. You can even pick a few different ones that you prefer.
It’s easy though! These days it’s really not a bad dungeon, I’ve never had groups struggle with it. And it has four quests so a little more exp.
The worst I’d say is Culling of Stratholme. No force will get me to run that place.
I’ve never understood why people hate this dungeon so much.
It’s not a long dungeon, whole thing is over with in… 1… 2… yeah 10 pulls of trash total. 12 if you’re super conservative. Checks stats Yeah, I randomed into this thing 33 times during Wrath, it was not that rough a dungeon experience.
You can blitz through it in like 15 minutes tops.
It’s nowhere near as frustrating as Violet Hold.

To this day members of my guild will say “Oculus” in an ominous way any time someone mentions the place. It was awful.

Ih its not the length, or difficulty. Its getting in dungeon and half the group leaves right away, or even afk’s rather than whip through it. Well, and the lack of diversity in dungeons for 3 levels. That random bonus xp is a good chunk.
The big problem with Oculus was that the dragons (for the final boss encounter) were set at a fixed level of power and it was hard to win the battle.
Sometime later they changed it so the dragon’s power would scale to your character’s power. So as characters got better gear the encounter became easier.
But what irked most players was that their character abilities were totally taken away for the fight and you only had the fixed abilities of the dragons.
It was a “vehicle fight” and many did not like that.

On top of it, half the population has no idea how to operate the drakes.

LOL It always makes me laugh when people jump ship on such a stupid easy dungeon, even when it first came out it wasn’t that hard! It requires little more than a cursory “what does this do” and any spec can master any dragon. Wanna heal as a dps? Pick a green, shield as a bronze and pew pew as a red.
Occulus is easy enough, I’m not sure why people would have issues with it.
But…
Tank takes red drake. Spams fire cleave. Fire cleave kills adds.
DPS takes the bronze drake. Spam damage and pause time when enrage hits.
Healer takes green drake, spam leech poison, sac health to tank when necessary. Tab spam poison for extra health on adds if you feel like being awake during the fight.
Like… it takes longer to type it out than it did to actually fight him back in the day. >_<

But that’s breaking the cardinal rule of random dungeons.
Random dungeons are there to be beaten as quickly as possible.
If you want achievements, you form your own group.
No harm in asking, if you’re lucky you’ll get a group that not only talks but agrees!

It’s rare but a few years ago in a low level dungeon I met a gnome that acted as the dungeons tour guide. Wherever you are little guy, be safe.

its a 5 minute dungeon at best.
Personally i think it should be made into a mythic +
I do get why certain level ranges have repeat dungeons in random for vanilla - BRD is pretty much it for 10 levels once you clear scholo and strat.
But after that, du geons gained a massive boost in quantity at end level for expansion. Why, oh why is oculus so prominent in lich king?
