Current state of every spec

hello here is a summary of every spec in arena for the 3 new players and 4 returning players we will get before season 3 of TWW.

arms: unbelievably goated melee with absolutely no counter. has game ending pressure, 50% ms and enough mobility to trade badly and still have 100% uptime. every button you press is 2-4m and you have a surprising amount of utility to assist your team. its very obvious at this point the janitor that comes in after hours to make pvp tuning decisions plays arms.

fury: the test pilot for the upcoming 1 button rotation, but just an actual spec. very good, getting some pve buffs that may make them overtuned and oppressive again. same thing as arms just different damage profile and less ms.

sv: its ok. can work for the righteous few that still play sv in 2025 when arms, ret, rogue and feral exist. has some pretty insane damage, stun trap, and blizzard reworked hunter to basically always have a wall up. pet ai is really buggy atm, and master’s call is also bugged so you get to dismiss ur pet before every arena.

mm: still the gamer dad rbg spec. it does damage. really ruins mages’ day. but kinda folds if it gets hit for longer than a few globals. if you like rbgs and you are over 40 this is probably the spec youre gonna be getting ur 3k in blitz on that you can link in ur 1800 push group in lfg.

bm: if you like 2s and play wow by blowing through a straw at different pressures, here you go. absolutely unhealable dam in 2s, play with a priest and just stun trap fear on cd and snore ur way to the top of the irrelevant 2s ladder.

frost: at one point this was the only thing keeping arms warriors in check but then they buffed arms and theres rets everywhere for freedom so now youre just an annoying mosquito that the arms warriors can reference as to why they do not need nerfs. big dam. all the crazy mage utility that is over the top relative to other casters. very solid.

(dumpster) fire: yep.

arcane: very big purple missiles damage. lots of mobility. you pump lots of damage and are very annoying to fight as a melee. despite how strong they are you don’t actually see a lot of them aside from tippy top of shuffle and 3s ladder.

sub: same spec. different season. lots of cc. lots of burst. good sustain with rupture in between goes. annoying amount of survivability + cheat death. it’s not SL S1 where u can just solo anyone who trinkets in a duel, but you can still punish bad players for pressing too much.

assa: lots of damage. triple garotte silence. less on demand burst but huge aoe cleave and pres evokers are bad atm so you have better chance to get value out of deathmark. literally just poison warrior. triple garotte silence is overtuned abuse it while u can

outlaw: perfect spec for all AHK enjoyers. rogue but with built in gambling. the only outlaws you see are actually botting or just abusing grapple in blitz but actually have no idea how to play the spec.

disc: the mighty gamer dad healer has fallen. no longer can u stand there afk pressing shield and penance and trading a PS with every minor cooldown. now you must play holy. you are still kinda unkillable for free, but like both heal priest specs, whichever one is better is the one everyone plays.

holy: 40 yard range instant stun. ward. angel form. fade. 10m crit serenities. swap. on demand damage. aoe fear. this spec has everything except stealth.

shadow: surprisingly really good, unfortunately held back a bit by the dominance of ret/warrior. once we see more arms nerfs and if we ever see ret nerfs shadow priest will rise up. super unkillable tank spec despite wearing a robe. lots of utility, lots of damage, lots of cc.

warlock: all 3 specs are basically just parse dummies for warriors atm. very sad. soon we will get 5% more armor so fury can parse on us instead of arms. go team.

ret: actual god tier hero class. it is an unreal, and almost laughable design failure by the devs to allow this class to have the damage, utility and range it has compared to every other spec in the game. forbearance might as well be removed as this point. bubble, bop, spellwarding, sanc, sac, freedom, lay on hands, and insane damage, from ranged. there is no downside to playing ret. you are just better than the rest of the classes.

holy: very good. can do insane damage if you build haste as a meme in 2s. solid spec. good on mana. good into warriors bc of bop.

resto: omega tree go brr. all the utility of druid but now u get to be a giant tree thats immune to cc and using mana. very nice. clone is still clone. still kinda vulnerable to swaps but in typical blizzard fashion they like to shore up that weakness whenever possible to ensure druids do not have a weakness.

balance: the penultimate rbg spec. do you like being an ugly fat bird thing and pressing starfall? do you like running around in bear form while melee attack you waiting to root beam incarn? do you sometimes wish you were a mage, hunter pet and a target dummy all at once? this is the spec for you!

feral: prior god class that has been unseated by arms warrior of late. still insane damage. still insane cleave. kinda boring to play.

enhance: very fun spec to play as long as youre hitting stuff that is standing still, doesnt attack back and doesnt spam dispel ur flame shocks. the moment anyone does anything vs you tho this spec is infuriating and the only person making it work is bigdam and his 50 alts.

ele: gigantic dam. lots of ele utility. pairs very well with arms atm. kinda lowkey immortal and no one knows why. maybe its the shield. ungodly cleave with a near lethal 2 minute ascendance go. getting ur flame shocks spam dispelled is a bit annoying.

ww: macro every single button with celestial conduit, run at the enemy with the lowest health, press that button and if they arent dead karma and do it again in 1.5 minutes. nothing makes sense anymore.

mistweaver: not as bad as pres, but not as good as anything else. randomly super insane damage in2s if you build for it. can just die in a swap if no cds or prewall. ooms very quickly. has to hardcast to heal which sucks.

havoc: havoc, in my opinion, is right where it needs to be. it is not the oppressive god class of DF but now it actually takes skill and effort to make work. good dhs are rewarded for good play, bad dhs just kinda fold and do no damage. i like this version of dh and have no real complaints other than mobility being way too high, like most melee.

frost: meme 2 minute go that you either outplay and then smash them or they get every cd from u and u die. really lame. kinda fun to play as an alt. no idea how anyone mains this spec. its the most scripted thing in world of warcraft pvp.

unhdk: not very good. you just kinda fold to warriors, you even fold to casters that you are supposed to counter. buffs soonthat will hopefully help but unholy has just been kinda neglected for awhile.

dev: 1 button flying wall of unhealable damage. you dont see a lot of them bc honestly this spec gets boring after 30 seconds. you literally press one button. you do unhealable dam and if you are like missing a hand or playing with a bop-it i guess this spec will work for u.

aug: had a really scary 1 shot for awhile, still does huge dam, just not as much as dev. kinda meme off meta pick that can work if you really like the style of aug but ur just better off playing dev.

pres: great in rbgs, awful in arena and shuffle. the 25 yard (now 30 yard) range experiment was a failure. blizzard struggles to admit when they make mistakes but we are inching there slowly. side note has anyone noticed evokers still dont have a class icon in LFG? good job blizzard. quality work. you are forced so close you are basically always in range to eat infinite cc and you go oom quickly and honestly just get rolled.

Ironically enough, it used to have this with Spectral Guise. Guess it will be back in MoP classic.

It had nothing else except GS back then though.

The point is it was funny that they had it at one period in time. The spec has seen more tools than Tim the tool man Taylor. Bring back 80% Angelic Feather though.

wdym im all 3. I press clone win games otherwise I get beat on by the melee who scream boomies are immortal and infinite mobility (we dont)

This is accurate, and precisely why I love Boomy and still main it, from Cata to this day :smiley:
It’s fun in R/BG/B, but could definitely be scaled down AoE wise and buffed a bit in the defensive department for Arena.
