Ya lightbringer w/ the PvP talent is primarily what I was talking about. That w/ holy ritual I end some games with solid hps not having thrown a single wog. Maybe not a perfect idea but I would gladly swap some utility and/or offhealing for a burst window that actually gets a trade.
I can’t remember a time, other than now, when ppl just facetanked wings.
Only thing I can speak to here is this: when in a random BG and you see a gaggle of rets on the other team, you can rest easily assured you’re losing the first teamfight and it won’t be close.
Solution: bubble duration reduced 2s for each other Paladin within 30 yards.
Actual ret players don’t want retpocalypse tier ret back, those are just dh rerolls in disguise. (I didn’t play that patch looks like I missed out on that )
I think stuff like loh in arena/passive group healing are probably hindering the spec, nobody that isn’t a degen wants to 1 shot every 30 secs but the dmg is just odd rn, probably bc it can’t go higer bc of the “9 healer cds”.
See i didnt notice the ignore had run out but now I remember why I avoid this rogues bad takes.
Nobody wants 10.0.7 ret, not ret mains anyways. You dont play the spec or didnt play long enough to understand current design is too gimped by
talent choices that are 100% pve designed (radiant glory, crusade, crusading strikes)
have too much irrelevant damage outside of spenders (highlords judgement, judgement cleave, boj cleave, crusading strikes cleave)
too many negative pvp modifiers (avenging wrath might , divine protection, final reckoning, hammer of light, healing hands, light celerity)
Lastly, the spec has too much holy power which means spenders cant deal meaningful damage (because you can just spam final verdict and healthbars will not move , this is increased by current tier set making spam even more the baby fvs).
Whoever is in charge of ret design doesnt do any form of pvp and has designed the spec for m+ only (where it shines as an aoe bot)
Crusade has been in the game for 9 years now and has been good in pvp since then.
Radiant glory is kinda necessary right now especially after they removed aura of reckoning. I’d prefer just having 2 minute wings + hammer of reckoning from legion but radiant glory is a good alternative to that. It lets ret have a go every 30 seconds rather than being useless without either a reckoning proc or during your 2 minute go.
Why is this a problem? Every spec in the game has passive cleave right now?
They probably should’ve reset most of these at the xpac start, since most of them happened when ret was s+++ tier.
I think current ret design is actually pretty good. It feels a lot more like how it was in legion. And I think right now it’s actually in a pretty solid spot. I don’t think it’s bad by any means and I enjoy it’s current playstyle a lot more than say SL ret. It’s especially cool since you actually have differing playstyles between going herald and templar.
As someone who played ret in SL, (that’s what I got my favorite plate mog with), I think less sustained damage, but more big burst damage baked into the finisher works best for ret. And big heals with word of glory. So that you must carefully choose how to use your holy power to either try to go for the finish, or to try to survive instead. And as others have said, it must go back to being mostly melee.
I believe frost dk could benefit from a similar situation with having to choose between using runes for big obliterates, or instead for big death strikes. But frost dk is a whole different conversation and is in a much worse state than ret currently imo.
However, overall I’d like the game to be less bursty/gimmicky but I think some specs like ret it just makes more sense to have a bursty finishing potential. There is no doubt this is a tough balancing challenge. I’m also not very high xp, so please take this into consideration. High xp rets like vanguards know much better than me what ret needs.
Sure that’s fair. As long as they gutted all ranged specs mobility, nerfed rogue and feral cc, and nerfed hunter/ mage micro cc. Wouldn’t really make sense to nerf ret range while every other spec has everything in the game right now. Since it’d just return to being the melee spec with 0 mobility and no slows while everyone else in the game have more mobility than they’ve ever had + more disruption.
I just got 1800. Now I have a better understanding. Ret into warrior/DK/lock feels like I’m throwing napkins at them. Any other class I feel like I’m smashing them to another planet. Just my opinion
Mate that has to be one of the worst version s of ret pvp so bad that I stopped altogether lol.
False.
Legion: people picked divine purpose over crusade( some used crusade if they were running the ring legendary that gave you a free talent in this case divine purpuse)
BfA: we used to run inquisition, not crusade
SL: we used to run final reckoning or sancitified wrath, not crusade
DF: we used to run normal wings pre and post rework. It wasnt until the nerfs that crusade became the only viable choice.
So, crusade has always been a pve talent, because normalnwings had its increased healing component making it bis for pvp since forever.
Because its padding the score on meaningless damage that serves no purpose. An arms or fdk cleave is meaningfull, a rets is not
There are different playstyles based on hero talents. The spec as a whole plays the same. No,the current profile is pve designed. Id much rather have on demmand 1min cd cycles than whatever trash we currently have.
