How’s everyone feeling about playing as Ret in PVP, especially in arena and solo shuffle?
Personally, I feel the damage is way below average as semi-melee without healing reduction; utility-wise, everything is perfect as it used to be.
As a Ret damage receiver, they cant connect to target usually and when they do it’s not much of a threat. 2/10, would not recommend.
It feels exactly the same… i legit havent felt the damage buffs and I got my 4 set too.
I’m having success with this talent build as Herald. Just passed 1900 in Solo Shuffle and was top damage last night in one lobby and 2nd top damage in another lobby!
Newer to ret PvP.
Kind of bad?
The damage feels very poor, I’m chasing ranged dps players shielded by a priest 90% of the time that are back to back absorbing verdicts. In the instance I do get one off unmitigated it doesn’t really make a difference as it will only hit for 400-500k where I’ve eaten multiple 1.2m ice lances or something in that time.
With the weak burst, weak healing, numerous yet limited CD’s and forbearance - it’s honestly hard to understand how to play into a lot of games and comes off really awkward compared to say a Warrior or Feral that can comfortably open with a stun then go into burst CD’s.
Ret utility is very strong yet easily squandered in solo shuffle I’m finding, a lot of instances where I’ll throw out a CD to support and eh idk people just don’t seem to make good use of it.
If the melee experience right now is lukewarm at best I’d have to have to say ret is an uncomfortable toe dip into a cold body of water.
I picked up ret knowing it had its lifelong background of being a burst machine with its identity of ‘run away when they pop wings’ and I’m left feeling disappointed in all content that isn’t keys at this time.
Update: A lot more geared and aware now, making sure I have double stacks of greater judge and empyrean legacy up on a completely mastery stacked Ret makes for some ugly good burst. Solo is still grief tho.
Ret is decent in battlegrounds if you play Herald with Avenging Wrath. I’m missing the higher versatility though. You do feel the difference early season when you’re not fully conquest geared yet.
As for Shuffle, I haven’t tried it yet this season and probably won’t. We have great team utility as always but I think the damage would have to be a little scarier…like what Templar was doing in season 1.
