Current Lore

I’m leading this off with that I am enjoying midnight and the story so far, it’s fun and I’m interested to see where things go, but it really feels like the writers aren’t familiar with the older lore of the series more and more.

Especially in the past few expansions, it feels like every time we’re given a bit of new lore, or expanding on things we’ve only touched on in the past we’re also retconning or getting 3 other bits wrong in the process. from dates (“around 30 years ago” when it’s closer to around 40, canonly been about 38 years as of TWW), the way characters are portrayed (why is arator, a decorated hero in his mid 30s, acting like a teen. i get elves age differently, but valeera who’s about the same age isn’t portrayed as such), order of events/npc involvement (vereesa being pregnant with the twins during the fall of dalaran when she isn’t til a few years later (during vanilla wow), and that her and sylvanas were there at all), and bits that happened during vanilla (did everyone forget about balnazzar impersonating dathrohan so fast?)

and while it generally hasn’t been majorly lore breaking stuff (tho there were a few in SL), it’s a lot of little things that makes it feel like the current writers aren’t familiar with the lore from the older games and books, or that the current move it to sweep most of the old lore that’s been built over the years away rather than being having it be used as a foundation to continue building on as the story progresses.
