Current feelings on SL

So, after playing since launch- I have had some fun but I really see the issues with the game

  1. Loot; I don’t mind less loot, it’s just that getting into higher content (M+, raiding, rated pvp) on alts in practically impossible if you don’t have friends to play with.

  2. Time gating; I couldn’t figure out why renown annoyed me but then I realised - it is legit a battle pass system that you level up. Getting renown levels feels kinda pointless when you finish the campaign.

  3. Pvp: I like the meta- but there are some MAJOR bugs and balance issues that havnt been addressed. (Some were on display at AWC this week. (Class diversity is rubbish atm)

  4. Torg; after running later 8 every week on 3 different characters- it’s just getting numb. Takes me 20 minutes, get some soul Ashe- whatever. I’d honestly feel good after a run if something other than soul ash dropped - even the rattle of gold would be better.

  5. friendliness; they wanted this xpac to be alt friendly, but it really isn’t. It takes more effort gearing alts then it does progressing mains. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing- but when renown hits the 40’s it’s going to feel awful starting at renown 1 on a fresh alt.

Definitely some more issue that could be bought to light but these are off the top of my head. I also don’t think yelling at blizzard for change is the way to go, I think we should be giving suggestions on what is good, what’s bad and how they could fix it.

This expansion still has so much potential but sometimes it does burn you out. Especially if you roll alts

Thank you for not just going off and dissing the game and its’ devs! All the “Ion! Ion! Ion!” every moment of every day gets tiring.

the only thing I don’t like about the Xpac is that catch up is a tad hard for players who don’t have much time as opposed to BFA where i could level a toon and fully gear them within a week or 2 after hitting 120

I dont like how things dont always carry forward from expansion to expansion

I get the garrison was built on draenor and had a purpose. Fine. Maybe we could have a garrison of our own on azeroth somewhere? A place to call home

I totally agree with this. I have had 2 friends stop playing because they felt behind, and have friends of friends who have just stopped too. One of my irl friends plays this game a lot, and he feels like you have to tap into every single piece of content to stay relevant- which is kinda true. A lot of the best pvp players have raiding items and the best raiders/ M+ have a piece or 2 of pvp stuff- which is fair, but it just inflates item levels. It just feels hard to catch up. Not sure how to fix that though.

I do feel like people that play a lot should be rewarded but catching up and keeping up is tough.

reading your list I had some thoughts

  • I think it is best to stop doing Torghast after you reach your goal; my goal was rank 3 leggo and felt the extra play for rank 4 was NOT worth +10 ilevel; being able to put content in the rear view is HUGE and makes the content better

  • Renown I was going to skip, then I wanted the mog and +stamina so I finished my campaign, but I’m not going to work on the weapon mogs, as that much anima is ridiculous - no thank you Bliz

  • I was able to get a tank and healer up to m6 pretty smoothly, so my “alt needs” are satisfied for now

  • I see MAJOR MAJOR problems with RNG gear building and I expect both my toons to reach a frustrating point where I can’t get the last 3-4 pieces I need and it will enrage me; no currency system is a colossal failure for the Bliz dev team - just horrifying

Dang, I never even noticed the similarities until you mentioned it OP. It is exactly like a battle pass

The anima cost associated with stuff is my chief complaint about the expansion. The amount required to get anything is just astronomical, and the fact that you have to use it to level up your sanctum too, and rank up your Covenant gear, is just super casual unfriendly. I’d have to be doing WQs pretty much non-stop to keep up with the demand and that just isn’t fun for me.

Also, I really strongly dislike the fact that rep rewards cost anima. Like, I went to all that trouble to grind a rep to exalted, I should be able to buy anything off the vendor for gold. Having to then go and grind something else just doesn’t feel great.

I’m really enjoying the expansion besides that, though :man_shrugging:t4: Torghast is fun, though the reward structure needs work, and world content from the anima conductor is varied enough to keep things interesting on a daily play level.

The only issue with ‘putting Torghast in the rear view’ is for specs like me (BM), there’s not a good legendary. So we have to keep farming soul ash to build multiple legendaries, in hopes that one of the BM ones gets buffed. If nothing gets buffed, we need to craft/rank-up the MM one just in case. I have not been through all the other class-spec legendaries, but I’m assuming BM is not the only spec with this issue.

Normal L8 Torghast runs are pretty trivial, but it has gotten old. I’m not one to make a thread on how much I hate the place, but I do fear how burnt out we’ll all be on the place in two years.

For sure. Hopefully they keep adding new features to keep it fresh, or there will be no reason to run it.

There is already an 8K soul ash cap, so once you hit it and Layer 8 TC there is pretty much no reason to do it until they add something else.

I’m assuming (and we know what happens with assumptions) at 9.1 Soul Ash will be treated like Titan Residium, and it will be reset and have its values changed. Surely they aren’t going to let us bank that 8k, and have it ready for day 1 rank ‘?’ upgrades at the current rank 1-4 prices.

Oh dude, let me tell you we tried, we were largely ignored during Beta, lot’s of suggestions and complaints about game issues.

They gave us an easier version of the game to test, gear was abundant, anima was easy to get, game was actually a TON of fun even unfinished…then during the final weeks when all the beta testers had bounced to go play the pre-patch they changed everything.

Dropped all the gear, lowered the numbers down to a trickle and left us with the game we have now.

The loot nerf combined with it’s usual RNG sucks. I could understand getting less, if we could target the pieces we wanted.

I could use upgraded shoulders but i haven’t even gotten any shoulders at all since my current ones dropped from a m0. 30+ timed mythic+ dungeons and 30+ raid bosses later and I’m no closer to replacing them.
