Current Complaints

My Frustrations with WOW as a fairly new player.

1.Entire game revolves around Item Level
which is then negated by new patches.
Any and all work put in to get max gear
is stripped of you with new patches and
expansions
2.Game is no longer an RPG, the only decisions that
you can make to affect your experience will
be, Race and Class. Talents and legendries
are not really a choice, if you are not using
the best legos you will not be welcome to
join group content.
3.Reputations is character bound instead of account
bound. I see no reason for reputation
to be character bound, currently as a newer
WOW player i have not seen a gain in one rep
result in a loss of another, removing any
choices that could affect your experience.
4.Currency, i do not have a good reason to keep
currencies character locked.
5. 3 and 4 reduce the number of alts people play because
of an unnecessary grind.
6.Legendaries require gold to create, at the top end
content. You do not earn gold, all you do is spend
gold. Now this forces players who want to
push end game content to split there time
between making gold and doing end game, wasting
more peoples time.
7.All previous content is null and void. The only reasons
to go back to old content to for gold, transmog,
achievements, or mounts. Unused content just waiting to
revived
8.Forcing people to play in groups. No one really likes to pug,
I know that is really all i do. At 2383IO i have trouble getting
picked up for +15s, doesn’t make sense. Any group i get accepted to
has at least one moron who isnt doing enough damage. When i play
with friends damage is equal across the board and dungeons are
a joke. Relying on others is not good.
Fixes (these ideas are coming from an OSRS design)
1.Item Level, do not increase the item level with each
patch or expansion. Max gear is max gear. The gear that is new
needs to be specific in design, not re-colors with different stat
priorities. Every dungeon and raid does not need to drop every piece of
gear for every class. Create deliberate gear with a specific reason.
2.RPG bringing back choices, give people a reason to gain rep with one faction
versus another. Dark side v Lights side in a sense.
make vendors have deliberately placed items than other
vendors, certain inns have a benefit that others don’t, some factions
give a cool teleport, or toy.
3.Reputaion make it account wide, unless you can lose reputation with the faction,
then those reps would be character locked. Hiding content behind a daily login
quest is a cheap trick that annoys everyone.
4.Currency is the same fix as above (3).
5.Would be fixed with 3 and 4 corrections.
6.Legendaries should be earned in a mage tower sense, a challenge
or test must be completed to earn, and no more extra currency
to craft it, more cheap antics from a dying game.
7.Null and Void content. In OSRS, if not all but most of the content
will be touched with a complete play through. Every item is deliberate,
has a use or function. New content does not negate old content. Everything
has a purpose. This is my solution, all of the previous dungeons and raid should be
scaled up to max level or incrementing levels, allowing people leveling to complete
this content for good hand crafted gear that has a purpose.
Leveling experience should not consist of play your tank or healer spec and spam dungeons.
No one likes doing gather this quests or kill that, dumb, old, cheap content.
Increase the time it takes to level and give people a purpose to go do molten core,
or ice crown citadel. Do not force people to go get the BIS item at Blackwing Lair, but
give them the option to potentially grind for it.
8.Groups can be bad, Scale all the raid and dungeon content so that it can be soloed. But maintain the
level of difficulty, OSRS raids can be soloed, is it really hard. Yes can it be done, yes.
and create minigames that offer some type of rewards, mounts, toys, teleports, mog. When i say
minigames, i dont mean different pvp arenas or darkmoon fair. Mage tower things, Torghast,
jumping puzzles, mount races.
I think WOW can be great again, but as it stands, WOWs priorities are in the wrong places.
Current end content resembles Diablo rift keys, except there are far less choices for gear. Also Diablo
had a better story. But Blizzard needs be percise and deliberate with the content they make
and ensure player time is only wasted when they want to waste it, not forced. Cheap time sinking
antics are notice by all, that is why the player base is dwindling.

Suggestions:

  1. Do not use line breaks within paragraphs. Allow the text to automatically wrap.

  2. Do use line breaks between paragraphs.

Your wall of text is almost unreadable.

this is a pretty bad time to be a new player honestly. my condolences. there are some points in your complaints that are basically the bread and butter of this game, but things are very intimidating and convoluted for new players. imo retail rewards people who’ve been playing the longest which is fine in away but it can be super alienating new players.

obligatory “come check out classic” if it gets too overwhelming.

The problem is the Game Director, Ion. He has a formula he doesn’t deviate from, and only listens to his bro-culture e-sport cronies.

So every xpac the formula rolls out. And then when they wash their hands of it and roll out a new xpac, all the work put into the previous one becomes irrelevant. All of it. Reputation, currency, gear, borrowed power, crafting progress…all of it.

People have been critical for years. They aren’t listening.

I hear you. Many of us do. But unless there is a change of management, like a significant change of game direction, then every xpac is going to be a re-skin of the previous one.

Oh, and making gold? That’s what the WoW tokens are for. Sell one, or more. Working as intended. Not even joking on that either.

Most of these just lead me to believe that MMO-RPG’s aren’t the genre for you, or at least certainly not WoW.

and this formatting… ouff.

It’s literally always been like that. Since day one.

It’s wierd when people make this argument.

I can’t think of a time when we have had more options than what we have now.

Making all content scaled to be soloable would completely ruin the content itself. Either it would have to be almost impossible to solo and or give 0 gear, or it would be far to easy compared to grouping for it.
Also making all content scale up, even old content, would be irritating and you wouldn’t be able to find groups for the older content. You would actually sit there for hours just to find a group.

Oh and when has wow ever had any actual choice too it as an mmorpg.
Seriously in classic what choices could u actually make in the rpg part of the game?

I am very sorry about the formatting, I was watching the masters, and just ranting in notepad like a clown. I have plenty of hours into wow, 10+ 60 characters, dabbled in pvp, raid and mythic plus. I have fun with all of the top end content, the rinse and repeat process is not fun.

So looks to me like you browsed the forums, took everything than ANYONE has complained about and recapped it in an unreadable wall of text. Nothing new or original there, in idea or otherwise.

D for effort.

Either that or the things that some people are griping about aren’t things that Blizzard wants to change.

They ARE listening. That’s VERY obvious by the changes that they HAVE made.

Don’t expect them to change everything that is complained about. Especially if the complaints are on this forum (where all anyone does is WHINE and COMPLAIN – which is NOT a accurate representation of the whole player base)

What is this reddit format, I’m not reading that mess.

I know what you mean but it’s really funny to think about it the other way.

Also, the reason for that is probably because they don’t sim their characters or know the optimal legendaries. Which directly negates this:

And it has ever been so. It’s been this way since level 1.

How exactly do you think this would look after 10 expansions of game play? This sounds more like “Sure, you have Level 60 gear, but OH NO, it doesn’t do SHA damage, so it only hits at 10% against sha touched creatures (i.e. everything in the expansion save for critters)”. Sounds equally gimmicky and the problem is the same.

But here’s another truth, folks LIKE to get gear. It’s a key endorphin hit in the genre.

Well, which is it? The “reputation” with the faction is with the CHARACTER not the PLAYER. A very RPG element as it is CHARACTER focused.

There’s that “RPG” thing rearing its ugly head again.

It’s pretty clear philosophically that the designers, while encouraging and wanting players to enjoy alts, they also don’t want an alt to just be a new set of skills with a new suit of clothes. That characters as a game element are not just a stat stick with 2 new different professions.

There are endless source of gold in this game. You can earn over 7000 a week just from the vendor trash of the callings reward, and that doesn’t count anything else. Like pretty much EVERYTHING else in the game, “play game, get treasure, gold, rep, tokens, etc.”. The game is not designed for people that chose to tunnel a single kind of content. You CAN do that, but it costs you in other ways.

And if it were not so, the game would be even more unmanageable than it already is. People have limited focus, limited time. Have a “current content” for players to focus on is desireable otherwise there’s simply too much, too big, with the population scattered throughout all of it never seeing each other except at the auction house, and those are all bank alts.

Nobody forces anyone to do anything. Here’s that “what do you need [group content] gear for if you’re not doing [group content]” banner. SL has SO MUCH solo content it’s staggering. All of the covenants and their story lines and cosmetic gear. Things like the Necrolord Abomination stitching (which was kind of fun to do, to be honest), the solo stuff in Korhia and now ZM. They’re now making Tier gear available to solo players farming ZM.

LFR has been a lot of fun so far. It’s the most anonymous “group” content outside of a world boss, it just doesn’t tolerate slackers well (and I don’t blame them).

I actually kind of like how the OP’s post came out. It’s almost artistic in a weird kind of way. That left margin is SHARP.
