Curious to know if this is true, or a step was missed

So over in Gen a user posted this about stalking:

"
Girlfriend leaves abusive Ex-Boyfriend’s Guild.
Girlfriend changes her name and server for $35.00.
Blizzard updates her character’s name in her Ex-Boyfriend’s Guild chat.
Ex-Boyfriend follows Ex-Girlfriend.
"

Did the person switching servers miss a step and leave their account “connected” in some way so that this chat update happened?

If a step was missed, I’d go update that thread so others could know.

Thanks!

Is this a cross realm guild? Normally after a name change if in same guild it does update on friends list, guild lists, not exactly what that person though it would do I guess.

When it comes to the character friend list, I do believe that updates for everyone who may have them on their character list.

Now, if it goes into the realm of On-going Harassment, that’s another story. On-going harassment would be things like circumventing ignore to send message. Even having someone else relay messages is circumventing ignore and falls under On-going Harassment.

If that happens, the behaviour should definitely be reported as On-going Harassment. Blizzard takes that extremely seriously.

Ah. That’s a shame then that there isn’t an opt-out for that. Seems to be a pretty large hole in the toolbox to police your own gaming interactions.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, this is something that was discovered back early last year that we learned about the hard way with someone who was stuck in this headache.

There was no real recourse offered then, and it’s not been brought here to CS since. Back in the day it didn’t leave that kind of trail, but the change happened at some point. I don’t want to link the thread in question for fear of it being revived and perhaps also being affiliated with the GD person in question, despite the posting realms not matching.

But the story is very much a true one.
