So, will realms go down again before launch for a reset/maintenance or at 6pm EST will the boat just suddenly show up to take us to the Dragon Isles?
Just curious on everyone’s thoughts or if any of you actually know how this launch will go.

the last few launches have been seamless, so i’m guessing the latter
Brace for impact and expect disruption in the form of DDoS
Launches aren’t much of an issue. Major patches are.
If I remember correctly from SL, there was no downtime, the quests to go to the new area popped up at launch almost like entering a WQ area or in your quest side bar when it went live.
Im expecting a hectic but fair launch.
How many people can fit on a boat before it sinks or brings the realm down. That seems to be the question. I like the seamless launch and a boat just showing up.
First three hours are going to be a bit nutty then it should settle down.
Seems like they’re doing things a little differently this time around, opening the flood gates at 6PM on a Monday is probably a good way to reduce the initial wave of people slamming the servers and give people time to spread out to other zones.
We’ll see though – you never really know how these things are gonna go.
Really? Figured 6pm was the worst time window. Kids home from school, many parents home from work, and even after dinner for many. Should be packed!
The real question is how long will Tuesday shutdown be?
Don’t know. Don’t care. I will not be playing till Thursday because this is not my first launch.
Compared to many gaming companies blizzard tends to keep things running smooth, even a huge update like this.
Ddos attacks and delays
It will hopefully go like the last few. Log in well ahead of time and then at 6pm Eastern the quests become active and content unlocks. Just like daily or weekly reset.
No, the servers won’t go down again before that. They don’t need to. Not unless something goes wrong.
Now, it could get laggy and crazy, but beyond that, it should hopefully be fine.
All of my recollection of launch days in the past several years were seamless. You’ll be in the game and it will just happen all of the sudden.
Many people will be crowded into Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Be ready to push through a lot of butts if you’re a little guy/gal.
Prediction: server instability, “random DCs out of nowhere”, and multi-hour queue times… just like last time
And of course, lots of complain posts on GD front-page complaining about said queue times (…just like last time)
Youll soon know
Hopefully, it’s as memorable as the boat launches in Wotlk. Maybe one of my favorite experiences in WoW was entering Northrend with the mist and a crowded boat.
I know it was a cheesey gimmick, but the Legion prepatch “invasions” were a hella fun way to speed-level alts
Just having so much “community” flocking from one demon invasion spot to the next was something to see, and your alts dinged up like 5-6 levels per event. It was super chill and I still remember it like it was yesterday
You could level up like 3-4 alts from fresh-to-max in like 1 week, merely by “attending” (tagging 1 or 2 elites) the invasion events
