So as the title says I am curious about how the honor system works now. Can someone with a job and kids actually reach rank 14 now? As I am mainly a PvP player due to time restraints and never knowing if I will have to get up and stop at a moments notice. Id like to be able to eventually reach the final points of the honor system before TBC is released in the new system.
yes, you can reach rank 14 much easier now with the new system…not over night obviously it will take a couple weeks with resets.
if they are skilled enough, and put in the time and effort, sure.

the coordination with your team, calling the right shots, assessing the enemy’s weaknesses and exploiting them.
Expect to play a solid 40+ hours in a week on your way from r13 to r14. If you wait until AV weekend maybe ~30-35 hours. It was actually easier with the original honor system on a dead realm.
It may be possible but not for everyone.
Pvp in classic has the major flaw that it only exists for 1 year, as then the transition to TBC happens.
It is unlikely that you can farm enough honor in that time, given you must level up first wich can easily take a few months. So when you arrive at 60 as a dad in March, those you fight against will be decked out in T1 and T2 gear or pvp sets. They will also play in premades, even AV is full of them.
Playing vs. premades is an automated loss most of the times, so you will not be able to farm the BG gear from the factions, which means you will not be able to gear up at all, since raiding is no option for you either.
In the end, you will be unable to compete and reach a higher ranking.
The real issue with the pvp system was never the time commitment, it was the fight vs. premades and quick release of new gear. You can not keep up with that anymore, you could do rank 14 just fine in original Vanilla, but with Era and classic fresh you just can´t do it, no matter what system they pick.
Today you have tryhards and no lifers, that did not exist in such numbers back then, plus the Blizz philosophy to merge all realms, release new gear quicker has made it impossible for a dad or mom.
It’s more like a solo rep grind now (although you can still group with others for those of us who care).
If you have a bit of time to hit 413k for a few weeks you can get to the end. It doesn’t decay.
