[Cult-RP]<Heralds of the Citadel>

:sparkles: :sparkles:Mission Statement

Somewhere in perfect secrecy, a call to arms is issued to the individuals whose life paths have brought them to this point. Beckoned by an angelic woman clad in gilded black, whose hair shines as bright as the whitest snow.

“All is not lost, my brethren. Arthas’s fall is not the end for us. It is merely a new beginning! While our new Lich King sits there on his throne, deciding how to go about the Scourge’s new beginning; we must regroup. We must be efficient and not alert others to our stirrings, lest we risk discovery at the hands of our adversaries. There are no immediate threats to our goal and ambitions! Let me be your guiding hands; let us be heralds of a new wave of death upon Azeroth. My Cultists of old and new, and any that side and wish to join the Scourge are welcome. There is no need to fear death, only to embrace it. No one can stop you when you take away their only weapon against you, and you point it in their direction. Become the harbingers you were always meant to be. Join me, and rule the dead.”

Who are the Heralds? :sparkles: :sparkles:

Having been in hiding since Liliana Voss’s destruction of Scholomance, Seraphine Argyle has devised plans to retrieve dangerous and important relics to the Scourge and bring her brethren out of hiding.

With the aid of a few of the Scourge’s oldest members, she has become a charismagic and elegant member of the world of Azeroth’s second most reviled enemy.

(Should there be sufficient interest, a sister guild would be made Hordeside and just share the same server and use addons/translation potions and interactions in the Discord for the language barrier while events would share same times and days with both guilds)

What is the Cult of the Damned?: Created and led by Kel’Thuzad to serve the Burning Legion, these are mortals that believe they must transcend life and death through eternal undeath. They are the mortal agents of the Scourge.

Taken directly from the wowpedia article Cult of the Damned:

The Cult of the Damned is an organization of the living beings who serve the Lich King. Members are mostly human, but all races are represented. The Cult was formed years before the Third War, as the predecessor and creator of the Scourge officially being loyal to the Burning Legion, and establishing its foothold on Lordaeron. The Lich King Ner’zhul, trapped in his prison-throne, reached out telepathically to men, orcs, and elves who lusted for power - most notably the then-Archmage Kel’Thuzad who would become an Archlich and the leader of the Cult of the Damned.

While Cultists aspire to become undead, they remain alive because undeath is considered an honor one must earn, and because living beings are useful to the Lich King for their ability to spy in living Horde or Alliance settlements, and recruit powerful individuals from among the living, either into the Cult or the Scourge.

Since the rise of Bolvar Fordragon as the new Lich King (and his proclamation as "Jailor of the Damned"), the Cult of the Damned have been seen leading the various remaining Scourge posts in Azeroth outside of Northrend. This would indicate that Fordragon’s ability to contain the Scourge is limited to Northrend, giving heros of Azeroth the responsibility to defeat the rest of the Scourge still beyond that continent.

The Cult of the Damned consists mostly of humans, orcs and high elves, but draenei membership is also presented, at least in the Frozen Halls.

How to join

  • Message an officer or guild leader.
  • Keep a look out for a WIP website for applications, but for now it is open invite on a case-by-case basis.

Questions and Answers!

Q: Do you accept all races?
A: Yes! All races and classes so long as it fits the Cult and Scourge canon (with a sister guild Horde if there is enough interest, where the guild on Horde shall be led by one of the officers).

Q: Do you RP in cities?
A: Unless there is a very specific and important reason, only those higher ranked within the guild should have any business in the city. Stormwind City is bustling and full of powerful entities that have truesight and can see through your illusions. Last thing we need is to be discovered too early.

Q: Is there d20 involved? And if so, is it strictly d20 events?
A: There will be a system for sure during these event types, but not all events will focus on combat. Some might be meetings with other guilds, others would be rituals and storylines to further character development (such as blood rituals, rising to lichdom, etc.)

Q: I want to join but what if I don’t have a profile yet for my character, just a vague idea?
A: That is perfectly fine, just as long as you have a first and last name and idea in your head, you can message us and we could even help you. After all, brainstorming can be a daunting task alone.

Q: What are the most active times of the guild?
A: Currently we do not have a designated active time of day. It is only very few of us, but we work or have other obligations during the day. So you can expect extremely late night weekends, with regular event times throughout the week.

Q: What kind of characters can join?
A: Those of interest: Wayward Scourge and old defectors are welcome. Individuals such as San’layn that somehow found their way out of the Citadel or were in hiding for so long from the events in Silverpine are welcome, as well as Ebon Blade Death Knights that felt betrayed by the Lich King but truly never wanted to leave the Scourge.

Necromancers, Cult of the Damned aligned mind mages, undead, death knights, blood mages, flesh crafters and more are all welcome. Even if you are a novice or don’t have an avenue to get into any of the above, we can make it happen.

Q: What guilds can engage? Do you do guild with guild RP?
A: Indeed! In fact, the initial purpose of this guild was to be an antagonist to another guild as they needed someone they know and trust to be fair. EVERY SINGLE ONE of our members is held to a quality standard of RP etiquette. Anyone that doesn’t will be talked to and hopefully show them the more fun way of interacting with people. In fact, below is a list of RP etiquette standards anyone that joins will be held accountable for considering the nature of this guild.

HOWEVER, any guilds that wish to interact/do events together must properly communicate with us with every detail OOC. Even if it’s a surprise, at least communicate with the officers and guild leader. We are not pawns, but we know the risks and consequences.

Community involvement:

Now with character death in mind, we can be the reason for a random character in someone’s story’s death (and reanimation) and you don’t have to be in the guild for it to happen (but you are welcome to join afterward, or be in our Discord as a guest). But all members in the guild, upon IC induction must be aware there are consequences to our actions. That being said, we certainly should be a force easily dealt with with the right amount of numbers and organization (meaning with other guild involvements, we may have a few casualties but not everyone will be defeated or killed all at once in one event).

When it comes to RP, there will be inter-guild interaction with an understanding that members of the [Citadel] cannot safely go into cities. If the stench of death or very strong magics are present, all eyes will be on you. However, if you can bribe someone IC for you have a safe journey within a major city (such as Stormwind) then make it very clear OOC and IC. This is to create a smooth and healthy RP experience for everyone involved.

Expected Etiquette: Those within our guild will be held accountable to the following, and aside from the guild’s built in OOC rules and guidelines, these will be enforced by the community so long as you hold this guild’s name tag:

  • Absolutely ZERO metagaming.
  • Proper and respectful communication.
  • No OOC bled into IC and vice versa.
  • No harassment OOC, IC harassment would have to be as stated above, proper communication.
  • We are here to write stories and have fun, not control people’s RP based on the nature of the guild and your character.
  • Any trouble both in guild and out of guild must have attention brought immediately to the guild leader(s) or officers of each guild involved in altercations.
  • We will keep it at 18+ with the exception that anyone that isn’t 18 has to be at least 17 either a month or two away from being 18. Case by case basis.
  • Consent is very important to us, so if you see anyone causing any harm whether they are on an alt or not, please direct it to us. Not only are our members expected to be respectable with our guild tag, we expect them to not troll or harass people on other characters not affiliated with the guild.

(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ:・゚✧ ✧゚・: ヽ(◕ヮ◕ヽ) This is the perfect place if you wanted to become a fresh death knight or to hang around other necromancers, blood mages, plagueweavers and more!

A most enthralling concept. However, once thing was not very clear: is your group loyal to Bolvar or do they keep their faith in Ner’zhul and Arthas? Or something else entirely.

Well the Cult only has allegiance to the Lich King. So it’s whatever successor takes their place. Kind of like Nazgrim’s allegiance to a Horde he didn’t support.

And they led (the cult of the damned, not this guild) the Scourge in his absence. Naturally they would align with Bolvar. And if he is dethroned, then to the next Lich King or Queen.

Understood. It is that some cult groups in the past viewed Bolvar as an usurper to the true Lich King, and kept their faith in the return of Ner’zhul/Arthas.

Again, an intriguing concept, one that I hope takes off. Scourge roleplay is fun.

Ya know, my death knight occasionally has fantasies of going back to the good ol’ hivemind when life was easier and there was no need to navigate through complicated emotions, but he was also dead set on maintaining his freedom from mind slavery. I wonder if certain circumstances could convince him to return to the hive…

I mean we’re pretty safe. Especially if you’re Ebon Blade and wish to just hang out with some old friends. After all, if we align with Bolvar, no one would suspect anything right? :^) he’s the good Lich King… right>?

What an interesting idea. I’m sure Bramund would be a perfect fit for the guild; himself being a former knight of the Ebon Blade turned wayward death knight.

An interesting concept. I’m always happy to see Scourge RP. I may have a toon or two that will fit. I’ll be in touch.

Through our Master, all things are possible! His power is without limit, and his will unbending!

Those who oppose him will be destroyed utterly, and those who serve – who serve wholly, unquestioningly, with utter devotion of mind and soul – elevated to heights beyond your ken!”

High Cultist of the damned here. Taliona would absolutely be on board. Lemmie know how to get in touch!
