/Waltzes into the lounge and fills up the huge coffee vats with the thoughtfully made fresh coffee. Restocks the tea and refills the kettle. Tidies up and puts out clean mugs, creamers, sweeteners, etc. Sets up cocoa station. Throws a log on the fire and fluffs the cushions. Sets out some home made cranberry orange muffins.

Happy Monday all. Rather chilly here, but above freezing. Had several severe fires yesterday fueled by the winds. A brush fire, a marsh fire, and several houses around the state turned into serious multi alarm fires. Thankfully nobody was hurt, but the buildings were a total loss. The wind just fed it and they went up so fast.
This is the week of the medical test I am anxious about. Wednesday. I just have to remember what day of the week it is. ARGH.
Welcome! There has been a CS lounge thread for about as long as there has been a CS forum. Be prepared for food, weather updates, and usually kindness. Sometimes a soggy gnome. What we don’t do is talk about the forums, at least not specifics. All food throwing triggers the portal protection system to teleport object and person OUTSIDE. If you look towards the top of the thread there are screenshots of an imagined Lounge setup done in Palia.

I started playing in October 2006 and while the amount I play these days is much less than it used to be, I’ve never had a sub lapse since then. Coming up on 20 years of having this game in my life is hard to wrap my head around sometimes but I still love the game and the people I’ve met here.

I really wish the Forums would hold to the settings I put on them.
Ignoring someone isn’t stopping the notifications of their posts. Setting a Forum to Normal or Muted isn’t stopping the notifications of posts.
Time for a Website Bug Report post.

The holidays are no longer sneaking up on me; they are full tilt rushing. I checked the online turkey defrost guide and I have to start defrosting mine on Wednesday. It’s a BIG bird and i need an extra day for brining. I’m not ready!
technically I have all the stuff, it’s the mental ready I don’t have yet.

Last check I was staying home and maybe making a roast chicken for myself! I am invited to Thanksgiving at my sibling’s house but I really don’t want a 3 hour round trip drive on a holiday. Then I would also get home and have no leftovers!
Thankfully I have a chicken in the freezer and it won’t take too long to thaw. Maybe 2 days in the fridge? I DO need to go to the store this week though. Makes note to clip digital coupons. I do want some sweet potatoes (no marshmallows or anything). They are on sale and I do love them.

It will be just the 4 of us at my house. My brother-in-law still has not paid my son for his car. When my sister-in-law came up from Tennessee a few weeks ago for a visit, she dropped in on him. He was high as a kite and his place was a dump. Seems like all his money is going for pot vaping. Sad.
I do like the small family holiday now compared to what we had growing up. Big, loud, smokey parties. And we get a ton of leftovers!

Um, given the circumstances that sounds like it might be a good thing! Sad thing, but a good thing!
You do have me actually thinking about making sure I have what I want for the holiday though. I had not even really thought about it in a “plan a list” way.
I AM making bread today though. Trying a cup of wheat flour in it instead of just all -purpose flour. We shall see how that comes out.

We’re getting dinners from a local restaurant. Way easier to handle. It’s that, or whatever leftovers are in the fridge.
We did the same growing up - we’d all head out to my grandparents’ house, along with at least one of my mom’s siblings and their family. Chaos.
It should turn out fine. My soda bread recipe uses AP and whole wheat.

This will be the first year in 35 years that I will not be making a turkey for Thanksgiving. Since it’s just my hubs and I this year, we’re going to do a roast chicken instead. I’ll still make all the sides, because I enjoy making them - garlic mashed potatoes, creamy gravy, green beans w/ bacon & onions, buttered corn, homemade yeast rolls, mashed yams (no marshmallows!!), stuffing (but NOT actually stuffed anywhere), cranberry sauce (chunky and smooth) … and of course, pumpkin pie! <Now I’m hungry>
While I like the leftovers, we don’t need a turkey’s worth of leftovers. And, since I made a bunch of homemade broth & canned it earlier this year, I don’t need the carcass for that (although I will probably make a small batch out of the chicken carcass, and just use it sooner rather than later).

Been going to my daughter’s the last few years. Bring a dish type of thing. Wife still always makes a turkey here though,”She has to”.
This year my daughter is being induced to labor on Monday 24 November (3rd grandson from her) so now the wife is in charge again. Her type ‘A’, “Murphy’s Law” demeanor is driving her crazy (Me too). Wish me luck!

Pretty sure the after Thanksgiving soup is mandatory. It is some sort of rule book! I do the same thing. If I don’t use the carcass then, I break it up and put it in the bone bag in the freezer. When that gets full, and there are enough veggie scraps in that freezer bag, I make stock and soup.
Besides, chicken stock can be used for a ton of soups besides chicken soup 
A nice black bean soup is a change of pace between holidays maybe.
