*crying jordan face*

Ok… about streamers, especially Classic WoW streamers.

First off, not going to defend any streamer here, but they are currently streamers for a game that is currently not out yet. That is the biggest problem. But lets look at Classic WoW streamers.

For the most part before the announcement, Classic WoW was solely private server content. This was against ToS for twitch. You could skirt by and stream it, but if you kept doing it chances are you’d get hit with a ban depending if Blizzard looked your way.

So, after Classic WoW was announced people started to naturally fill the gap of “Classic WoW Content Creators.” Why? Because Classic is going to be a big deal, at least for the first couple of months. But… alas, we go back to our main problem. The game isn’t out yet.

So, the first really big streamer was Esfand who broke out of the private server shell. He was a “community” figure of private servers as indicated in his videos. He had the backing of the “Vanilla WoW Fans”. He had some issues with Blizzard but started to get big on youtube and twitch. Others saw this success.

Staysafe is another person. He was known in the private server community it seems. Not as large as Esfand, but made some youtube videos or at least tried to make some early videos.

Now… TipsOut. TipsOut is a nice guy. Extremely nice dare I say. But he was unknown. He broke into /r/classic WoW with very little if any private server background. His youtube channel was unknown. He said he played Vanilla and started on the 24th of November 2004, but never hit level 60.

People naturally questioned that with “how can you play for two years and not hit sixty”?

He came out with a few more videos and guides and then he made a long forum post saying he lost his job, was extremely sad and needed to step away. A few days later he comes back with a patreon and decides he’s going to be a Classic content creator full time.

So that’s a brief background to my knowledge on those guys. Now… why do people not like them.

I’ll use this example. Say you have a relative who is old as heck. They served in World War 2. But then you have someone else who is extremely well read in World War 2. Both have different knowledge about the same subject, firsthand and secondhand.

Esfand, Staysafe, and Tipsout, as far as I know, didn’t get very far in Vanilla. Is that bad? No. But to some people, they feel that is disingenuous. What they have done is become extremely well versed in Vanilla through digesting patch notes and other things. So their experience is through private servers, forum posts, and patch notes. But not many first-hand 2004-2006 experiences.

So… going back to the first and main problem. The game isn’t out yet. How do you make content for a game that isn’t released? How do you write a book review for a novel that isn’t published? Well… it’s hard.

And therefore we get videos of BluePosts, videos of speculations, videos of opinions and thoughts. These guys have decided to take a leap of faith and try out streaming and stepping away from a “normal” job and go with their passion. So, they need to do all they can to earn a living. And if there is no game… we get where we are now.

I suspect when the game launches, we’ll see more content from all of the creators. Most of them have molded themselves into personality streamers, so people come back due to them and not the content they produce.

Anywho, apologies for any errors in the post.

Yikes… Now that sounds like the sort of thing that would actually be pretty despicable. Where can I find this? This sounds like the sort of thing that would make me feel better about myself through looking down on others.

People who haven’t played vanilla WoW obviously… I started really early myself, I can’t remember exactly as I started playing when my COUSIN got it for christmas but I never hit 60 in it either. I mean… tips had to have been what? 12? when it was out? maybe 11? I would be more surprised if he did hit 60.

If they remove wall jumping then it is only fair for them to make the previously only-accessible-areas-via-walljumping into actual playable areas one could get to without exploiting.

Again the people asking were private server folks it seemed like. I should have specified that.

The few decent players who stream are horribly out numbered by a deluge of baddies who’s fans like them for god only knows what reasons…

These same bad players often post on the forums asking for protection from the company who’s game they’re playing crying about stream sniping and garbage like that.

I have been accused of stream sniping on numerous occasions… Problem for them them is they are so trash that I don’t need to even look for their obscure trash stream to out play them.

Worse is the copy cat fan base, who depend on streamer for their 1337 skills… It’s not a bad place to start, but dear god build your own play style and don’t parrot their garbage.

It’s that parrot garbage and copy cat garbage that drive me nuts because those idiots kill off creativity in games by almost forcing a “Meta” into game.

I take it upon my self to pollute the meta by being a massive problem at every single point where players contact me in PVP by playing like a total Jackwagon.

Nah

I gotta be honest man, I have never seen this. Not saying it never happened but I for sure have never seen it.

This is 100% not created by or even just exclusive to streaming though… The earliest instance i can think of this (for me) was as far back as diablo 2. People would post on the forums all the time showing off their ‘bone necro’ builds or ‘frost sorc’ builds and people would copy cat those all the time. That’s not from streaming it’s just a product of video games. If streaming were to never be invented this would still be something that happens in every single video game.

payo

You’re right, it’s just that streaming made it much much much worse because now instead of the copy cats filtering in over time and the “META” outrunning the copy cats…

The copy cats are right on top of the new hot exploit because it’s the only way these idiots can win a fight. (not talking WoW here)

Well youtube hate is just well known for example ive been watching this guy named Jordan Peterson and his maps of meaning, more so on thecmap of meaning leatures are pretty interesting. As for streamers, it comes mostly down to fan base, though i do agree people who make content cant and shouldnt have to control there fan base.

A lot of bigger streamers, when it comes to FPS are elitist or think theyre the best just for being a populaur then apart from the lack of skill. I mean an example i know is when a buddy and i where playing Halo 4 this streamer thought he was the bees knees and my friend was in KSI back in halo 2 back in the day the streamer didnt even know who that was, which was funny in itself, so after ny bud 1v1 rekt this guy he wouldnt even drop his better then you complex, why not just say GG? Nd call it there?

Sure FPS Players are more agressive and victous but some streamers are silly, not all Grubbys seems an okay guy, and some youtubers are great if you want to learn about tools.

Quid pro quo

Classic is not the place for new content.

So nah.

Classic is the place that should have wall jumping, so…yeah. Quid pro quo.
Or leave the warts of wall jumping in.

Agreed. No new content though.

We know they fixed at least some of the methods.

They won’t, it’s just a sandbox, it’s only client side. So the only thing a person can do there is running around, checking the settings tab and summoning items to their inventory. And that’s all. There are no NPCs, no combat data, no scripted events, nothing, except for enviroment and a character’s model. It’s like an empty shell of the game.

The primary use of this would be checking terrain and models. Application level compliance.

Yes, checking lightning, shaders, character models, terrain, item stats and if an item exists in the client (like old unarmored mounts).

Looks like it was taken down, lols. This was before he got big, looked like he took a down a lot of his older videos as well.
