Crusading Strikes vs Templar Strikes

AoE, m+ and raiding aside, which ability actually feels better (for you) to use? Which “makes sense” from a “fits better into the rotation” kind of deal.

Thoughts?

Entirely subjective.

Most people will tell you Templar Strikes feels better to play as it means Ret is a GCD locked spec and it’s easier to play.

Most of the hate CSAA gets is for the “afk” it causes sometimes in the rotation outside of CDs when there’s nothing to press.

Agree with this 100%

Edit: not that Templar is easier to play but more engaging for me

95% of my time playing WoW in a group, I’m a healer, so my brain is very much molded around that style of gameplay, and even when I play dps I’m still in a healing/support mindset most of the time. For me personally, because of this mindset, I really really really enjoy the option to use Crusading Strikes. I know some people hate the “downtime” of it, and prefer the feeling of being GCD-locked, but for someone like me, all the extra available GCDs get used for support abilities (instant Flash of Light, WoG, blessings, cleanse) and if I’m running Templar Strikes I feel like I can’t fit these abilities in without making a major rotational sacrifice.

Templar Strikes probably feels better if you’re all-in on the dps mindset, but since I’m a healer at heart, I really appreciate the breathing room Crusading Strikes gives me.

Best version for me is … no point wasted for Crusading Strikes or Templar Strikes.
Regular CS feels best, sadly it’s not the best variant.

It actually is the 2nd best option, very close to CSAA, and probably you can get it to sim best with proper gear itemization. You require WF tho.

Yep, i know, i’ve been using it for the longest time, until CSAA jumped quite ahead of it.
But i’m not using Vanguards as a compromise… i prefer 3 HP spender gameplay.

Sadly true… which is why CSAA is ahead, most of the time raiding there is no enh shammy for WF.

I’m not aware of any ST build that doesn’t use VoJ, personally.

But yeah, my point was that you can get away with no CS talents, if you have the tools.

I personally believe the fact that you don’t need WFT as a Ret is too good to pass, but everyone has their own opinion and choices of playstyle. Not like any decent guild will put a Ret in the WFT group anyway.

What is this?

Crusading Strikes

The difference between VoJ and putting 1 point in Highlord’s Judgment is less than 200 dps for me.

I personally like Crusading Strikes, because I like passive builds in general. I like to offload performance to passive stats from my reflexes.

With Templar Strikes, while it’s fun to have that crit combo, I feel like I’m constantly GCD starved and I’m making bad use of my rotation and it actually ruins it for me.

Crusading Strikes Auto Attack.

I just think combo abilities are cool. Even if its only two steps.

When in doubt… go go gadget Divine Toll!

Or in the words of Moon Knight, “Random go!”

Crusading strikes feels better. It’s also a lot easier. If you’re interested in pushing higher keys there’s really no value in playing TS.

CSAA. I have very little downtime and any downtime is used healing/cleansing. I’ve been hitting Crusader Strike since TBC and honestly, I’m happy to not hit it for a couple of patches.

I would play CSAA if it was still 1HP every auto attack. Even if that came at the cost of BoJ only generating 1HP. With auto attack timers being what they are with a 2 hander it doesn’t feel good (imo) to get HP on a 7s cycle

Noticing that too. I was strong into AA because of the weapon, but now with other 447 (non-ability) weapons out there, the AA is becoming not only secondary, but I’m playing around my build by decoupling the blade reset from it.
