Crusader Strike Locked Duration?

All of my friends decided to roll here (before anyone knew asmongold was going to play on this realm) and I don’t even want to play if I can’t do it with them.

So, does anyone have a guess as to how long the server will be locked? I want to play pretty badly but it feels pointless until I can play with my friends.

same situation. My guild that has been together since NWN on AOL days is there and I can’t create a character because I’m a day late.

This was from one of the devs twitter accounts. So y’all are probably porked unless they backtrack.

This server needs to be unlocked NOW. This game is about playing with your friends and they are putting faction restrictions on servers and now completely shutting some down. This type of management is so out of touch and way worse for the game than people having to wait for mob tagging

They said the server is “full full”. Meaning they don’t have the capacity to lift the restriction.

I’m sure they just don’t have the technology after 20 years…

I heard from a friend that was reading into that dev’s tweets that there were so many people that it was breaking the login queue. So idk if it’s a viable option to unlock it at this point.

That said, if you’re wondering why a company that’s been doing this for nearly 20 years didn’t have a better launch plan in place, I’d say that’s more than a fair question to ask.

Some of the issues people are running into (like this) are some kinda amateur hour brainstorming problems that should have been caught before hand.

I think their plan to server lock when factions reach 50/50 is probably a good thing, however I agree asmon and the other streamers should have had their own realm, with them getting like 3 days pre play to make their toons and get their stuff going. then once all the streamers are in check to see what the faction balance is and then if enough left, let people make 1 character there on only 1 faction. Then lock it.

There is literally NO room on the server. What do you want them to do?

Agreed they had a solution and could have used it but decided not too. Allowing Asmon and the rest of the streamers have their own servers One for NA and One For EU and then once they all got in and got their names and such, allow normal players to make 1 character. On one faction, then once this server hit 50/50 then lock it perm. Only solution that wouldn’t have caused all these queue crashes and such. Or not even make that streamer server visible until after those 3 days passed.

Its the result of trying to balance a server. Not sure what people expected. So its the ying / yang of it all. Imbalance servers always available. Balanced servers controlled and will be unvailable often.

A lot of people assume the servers today are not better than the blades they used back in 2004-2010. I would say no they are way better, its just the costs to maintain those blades have gone up exponentially. Also internet costs for large companies have gone up 200% because of the size of the base of people using the internet. In 2004 it was dialup, and even though there were say 4 million players, the phone systems were cheap and the hardware was low tech. Now adays just to hook up say 2000 people to a server costs them millions due to the cost of the hardware and network infrasstructure, and the drives to store the information on and the Databases are massive so think of the cost to protect it and the redundancy and such. I bet 1 realm costs them 1 million a month to keep up with all those aforementioned costs

This is all part of the balance, you gotta live with it or move elsewhere. The only good thing Blizzard can do is make a new rp pvp realm and allow free transfers from the full realm to the new realm and have friends agree to transfer. If your friends / guild don’t wanna transfer they don’t seem to be the friends you thought they were.

I remember some servers in classic being locked for a year+.

Roll on another server.

Chaos Bolt already dying. It’s at medium while every other SoD realm is at Full.

I imagine if enough non-rpers get their names and such reported (If they don’t follow RP server naming policies) that would change. There are quite a few special RP server rules, so there is that.

Chaos Bolt is fine. If this is medium, then I don’t want to see what full is. Every quest giver and mob is contested as it is. Questing is taking forever in the nelf zone.

A little different situation, but faerlina/benediction were locked for months after Wraths release. Which makes more sense with an existing player base with new servers it’s just dumb. Guildies who are now locked out would much rather wait in a que then be stuck rolling on a different server.

If it’s too many people for the login que, their are solutions for this and other games have had this issue and never locked me off a realm as the solution.

I was on Benediction when that happened, I always Play Horde, but got stuck rolling alliance there due to the locks. BUT i made the most of it, when the whole realm started moving to the other server they opened up later, I re-rolled on that

Ya unfortunately Blizzard has never been a Proactive company, always Re-active, because its cheaper to be reactive. For example when I played GW2 they never had this issue, because they always made sure tools were in place to prevent this.
