Crowd Control

Ive played this game since TBC and ive always wanted to ask this question. Why are mages the only class in the game that has a cc that full heals the enemy? we are the only class that benefits the enemy through cc, as well: it breaks on ANY damage not a substantial amount like roots or fears. Unlike warlocks or shadow priests we don’t have the ability to heal ourselves short of eating out of combat, since our temporal is able to be stolen, purged, and maledicted to completely cancel the entire cooldown. Warlocks have coil, fear, infernal stun, root, shadow fury, spell reflect, skin, portal, and healthstone, not mentioning pets that are one you the same as a beast master hunter. Spriests have fear, horror stun, blanket silence, mind control, disperse, and void shift. What reasoning does blizzard have to explain this? not all of us play rogue mage and want 1.5 min games.

Amateur guess here but I’d have to imagine it has to do with the lack of cooldown on it. Aside from the DR poly is always an option, most of the other things you mentioned have something like 15-30 sec cooldown times.

Polymorph was single handedly one of the best cc’s the game has. No cd, 1min (8s pvp) duration, can effect the most species types, doesn’t make the target immune to damage, magic debuff so only healers can despell it, and has almost no chance of pulling extra mobs in dungeons. Plus it’s spanmable enough to lock down caster npcs. It’s only downside is it heals.

Though I do agree it’s downside does make it hard to recover in battles where a mob has kust enough hp to outladt mana supply and/or other control methods and defensives. Wishing myself it didn’t do that.
