Many of you who have only participated in “retail” better learn what this is how to use it and not break it.
Edited out classic meant retail, Thanks for pointing that out Priestlee, but you know what was inferred.
That is all…

Sheeps will get cleaved over and over and over again
Cleaves? Well that’s just a bad pull if you’re fighting near a sheep. The real killer here is multishot. Yet another huntard move
What? Please stop.
Warlock in a low level dungeon: “Others CC, hm useful… I can do that too, click fear”.
Fear is a useful CC if you make a long pull
You can combine fear with some root effect too.
CC is what made dungeons interesting for me. Each tough pull was like a puzzle the group had to figure out. CC those two, tank this, stunlock that, offtank this, etc.
These days it’s just gather up everything and blast em down. It’s no fun whatsoever.
Don’t let them click it before you finish the sentence ![]()
Every hunter knows not to… Ok, I guess I over generalized too.
I’ve seen videos of a paladin running through an entire dungeon, pulling every mob, and then AOE’ing them all down while he fought the boss at the same time.
I lol’d.
Proper application of Crowd Controling effects meant the difference between success and failure when the trash packs were stronger than some bosses. Retail players are in for a rude awakening if they think that Classic can be approached with the same zergfest mentality that they currently apply.
Was gunna say, idk what groups you’re apart of but you mind inviting me?
Sure thing if you’re on my server, kinda like all you guys now days. This little community is not half bad!
Something tanks will learn is to move the mobs the party is killing away from the CC.
Literal crowd control, the actual difference between just a tank and a GOOD tank.
I haven’t seen too many references to CC now that I think about it. Understanding how it worked was definitely an important part of the game.
If we’re thinking of the same guy–somebody posted one of a god-tier paladin doing just that (in SM Cath, running a group of lowbies through) on Reddit a few days ago. Now I forget his name.
There’s a 20-25 level difference between 60 and SM. And the paladin who was rushing lowbies through SM was pulling trash mobs, he didn’t take them to a boss and then solo the boss while the trash mobs were beating on him.
These days it’s just gather up everything and blast em down. It’s no fun whatsoever.
Try doing that in a half decent key and you’re going to fail hard. Soft CC’s are mandatory, sometimes even hard CC’s do get used.
