Crossrealm BG's are worse than Layers

I wouldn’t be opposed to adding crossrealm BG’s at phase 6, but having it from the beginning is a horrible decision and very unauthentic.

Battlegrounds were a place to prove yourself amongst your peers. Battlegrounds in Vanilla were where people from your server learned your name. Battlegrounds were where people from your server learned to respect you.

Crossrealm BG’s removes all of the aspects of PvP server-immersion in favor of faster queue times.

Very bad decision by Blizzard, and one I hope they reconsider.

Agreed… CRBG = poison.

I can’t find anything that says that cross-realm BGs are for sure being implemented in Phase 3. There’s nothing on wowhead or mmo-champ. Where are we getting this from?

Several interviews they mention it.

There are pros and cons. Pros include less potential for wintrading and other exploits, faster queue times especially for servers with unbalanced factions.

It was said in a few interviews.

Does anyone have a link to one of these interviews? Please?

If there’s a lot of servers and you use battlegroups where each group is only a small subset of servers, you’ll still recognize people’s names and see them very frequently.

If you tend to always play at the same time of day, you’ll probably still encounter the same people fairly regularly, even if it’s every server.

People on the BG forum talk about running into each other in-game and retail is all servers in a region together.

wow, crbgs, really terrible decision

i guess i was wrong to get a glimmer of hope that blizzard knew wtf it was doing here

I’d prefer a system based on realm activity in that area, say if your realm has a healthy queue for BGs your server won’t be flagged for CRBGs, effectively the CR system won’t activate unless the population of BG queue drops say at the middle of the night or during the day during work/school hours.

CRBG midnight pops encourages low quality 24/7 play for R14 instead of just 12 hours a day.

I have to admit, I am thrilled for cross realm BGs. I want faster queues and more BGs. Since that’s 99% of what I’m going to be doing.

That exists for you in retail.

You do realize you’re arguing against something that has already happened in a live/practical environment, yes?

People advocate against CRBGs because they experienced first-hand how detrimental it was to the PvP community they had been a part of up until that point. To then attempt to dismiss something that actually happened to the people it actually happened to is one of the silliest things I’ve seen on these forums.

it gives low pop realms more chances to bg im all for it.

fyi classic wow is not purely vanilla

How much longer/harder is that PvP Rank Grind going to be now? I sure hope Blizz is ready to take action against the bots.

It’s much easier for low skill 24/7 botter/rotation types to get r14, although you can still compete with a premade due to higher efficiency. When there were only so many live hours in a day the low skill solo queue 24/7s are shut out because they can’t maintain the same efficiency as the premade.

It’s also more boring and exhausting, instant queues mean no downtime, and CRBG lowers the quality of opponents and teamwork to the point where even a bad premade can dominate.

There are so many reasons to not do CRBG. Lack of community, lack of personal rivalries and vendettas, but the bots, and AFK’rs and those the want to bail as soon as a BG goes against them. CRBG really hurt the quality of BG play.

I was in a PvP guild in vanilla with multiple high warlords. If you really believe all vanilla PvPers thought long queues were better, you’re mistaken.

If you think name recognition was lost post-vanilla, you’re mistaken.

People misdirect anger a lot and think X Y or Z was the worst thing to ever happen to the game. I think they’re often very delusional and don’t actually know what they’re talking about.
