Cross-Realm question

Hey all!

I’m a recent returning player with a question about group finder. I played WoW briefly after its original release, way back in '05 or so. I’ve decided to jump back into it with more time on my hands. I’ve been enjoying myself a lot, but I have been attempting to find other players to quest/do dungeons with.

I do enjoy the dungeons a lot, but there are plenty of times where I want to complete world quests with others. I notice that the group finder tool has very few players looking for quests to group with. I did find a couple people on different realms just now to possibly do quests with.

Although I know the Dungeon Finder connects players from different realms, would I similarly be able to meet up with players from other zones to do world quests as well? Again, I haven’t had the opportunity to try this out yet, but I did finally find a couple people interested on the group finder.

I was just curious as to how “cross-realm zones” work and if anybody could clear this up for me. Thanks and be safe!

Yes, you can group up with people on any server now and do world content. (One thing you do have to look for–everyone in the group will want to all be in the same mode for War Mode. ) The group will all be pulled to the same server to complete quests. This happens automatically when you are in the same zone and grouped together.

Cross-realm zones isn’t this grouping function. Blizzard is dynamically merging zones in the world to make sure that you are never in an empty zone. So you will see people from other servers running around in the world with you. If you are on a low or medium population server, this will be common in all zones. On high-pop servers, you may only see such folks when in old world zones that are not frequented often.
