I see a lot of debate on if there should be cross realm battlegrounds or not. I can see good reasons from both sides. The way I look at it, they should just make it so you can either queue for realm only BGs or cross realm BGs.

For the first time in the history of World of Warcraft, you will be able to face off against players from other realms in the Battlegrounds. They already said it’s happening. I don’t like it, but it was in late Vanilla, so not much to argue about… done and done.

I would be totally cool with offering a same realm only option. I think it would be dead because most people really don’t care about seeing the same names that often but it would be there.
I think it is all but set in stone that cross realm BGs will be in from the start (well from the start of BGs being implemented). While I would prefer them start out with no cross-realm and then when the active server populations die down, implement it then but I don’t think that is something they would consider doing. One thing that was kind of fun even though it slowed down the grind was having the Marshal group queue into the Warlord premade on your server, a lot less likely for that to happen with cross-realm which is unfortunate. I think overall a much larger percentage of the playerbase would prefer faster queues.
