Cross Post: Final Class Selection

I’ve tried a lot of classes and narrowed down my selection. I want to level three classes, but ultimately will have to drop at least one of them. I’ll make that decision once I see more tuning passes and community perception in the first few weeks. I know, I know - “Play what you like”. I like to not be excluded from pug content based on the class/spec I play.

I like all of the classes I’m looking at. But I need to narrow it down more. I cut warlock, hunter, and most recently DK. I’m now trying to cut one more from:
Shaman (Ele/Resto)
Priest (Shadow/Disc)
Warrior (All specs)
Druid (Feral/Bear and maybe Boomkin)

Thoughts:

  • Shaman is super fun and is looking to be my main at the moment. I know that Ele struggles from a DPS point of view and they struggle in Arena. Resto is looking solid all over though. Looks like I can use Necrolord for everything.
  • Priest heals can be hard to pug with because the Atonement style makes it hard to “catch up” when DPS keep messing up mechanics. Shadow is top tier right now, but I’m honestly expecting a nerf after the first raid tier. They’ll be mid pack pretty soon. I’m fine with that, but don’t suggest Shadow “because of the numbers”. Looks like I can probably get away with Venthyr for everything.
  • Warrior is looking “meh” from numbers. That’s fine as long as I can still get into M+ groups. More worried about community perception on this. Seem to struggle in random BGs. Shield Block uptime worries me a bit. I like all three specs though. PvE DPS wants Venthyr, Tank wants Night Fae, and PvP wants Kyrian. That’s a major issue for me. The kit feels really quite smooth to me though other than the shield block thing.
  • Hate Resto druid playstyle. Undecided on Balance Eclipse system. Feral looks and feels good in PvP, but they’re laughed at in PvE. Guardian looks really solid, but has less opportunity to progress in skill. Looks like there is actually more choice in covenants than other classes/specs and I should be OK here.

Based on overlap between or personal reasons, what would you cut?

I love guardian druid playstyle and it will allow ease of access to M+ gear. Feral runs into a similar but worse case of xpac scaling than ele. Unless they changed something drastically feral sucks until the end of an xpac (probably why you think it is currently really fun).

Spriest is looking to be a safe all around bet and both healing specs received very good changes.

As for warrior prot will get you into Raid/M+ for ease of gear.

Ele/Resto are both looking solid in all aspects. And Enh only slightly behind in PVP.

Ele is really good actually.

If your choice is affected by number output you might as well wait a month to make a choice. Play what you prefer.
